Mulder and Scully investigate a man who was thrown off the top of a building and landed without a scratch.

Mulder thinks this man can cure himself, Scully just thinks he's just very lucky (she's right)

This episode has a lot of extremely ridiculous, Final Destination-like deaths, I love that

Weems' "luck" kills the mobsters, one of which happens to have the same blood type as the kid for a liver transplant

Watch it? Yes, this episode is so fun. An "extremely lucky man" is such a goofy concept, I like how chaotic it all is while also being pretty wholesome in the end. Willie Garson is great fit for this. Also, this might be one of the all-time flirtiest episodes for M&S, they're so silly the whole time.

Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

Most of this episode is from the POV of the suspect, Rob, a young... creature who is fighting his hunger

My partner and I argued about whether Rob is a "zombie". He's not dead, but he does eat brains??? Idk what he is, if not that

Mulder makes a lot of dad jokes and fucks with Rob, he's on to him the whole time

The brain-sucking tongue thing is sooo gross ahhh

Watch it? I'd say skip. The change of perspective does a good job of making us see things differently, and it's a very creepy monster, but it doesn't keep me engaged for many parts of it. I find the placement of this episode interesting, not getting to see what M&S are up to right between "You were my touchstone" and Millennium... 👀
