when I first realized percy might have been an unreliable narrator, my first thought was that he might have just be narrating to make himself sound more cool. beating the god of war at 12 years old? carrying the sky on his shoulders? having everyone basically fall in love with him? unrealistic, but okay, you were entertaining anyway (and we all love you) .

then we read HoO and realize that percy's unrealistic because he is FAR more scary and powerful than he ever even let on. and we love him even MORE.
