"Miss Athena, my name is Jigen Daisuke. Would you go on a date with me, please?"
For a moment, all Athena could seem to do was stare at the gentleman before her. Questions whirled through her head. Who is he? How does he know me? Why would he want to date me? And she found herself growing uncharacteristically shy. People didn’t ask her out on dates. She was not really… dating material, in her mind. And yet…
“I…” Her hands moved to her hair, and she combed her fingers through the long locks. “I… I’m sorry… A date? Me?” She frowned, still trying to wrap her head around the proposal. “Why would you want to go on a date with me?”
He knew this might seem strange to her, considering he was a stranger, but he saw her walk by his house everyday on her way to work and slowly he had started to like her. He wondered who she was and what her name was. He wanted to talk to her but she was always rushing to work or back he didn’t get a chance to talk with her.
One day, he had been walking along and seen her enter a house and not come out. He realized that had been her home and eventually he went there, running into her mother. He had explained the situation to the mother and received her blessing, so he was fine in that department.
After that he had managed to find her when she wasn’t rushing and here they were. He cleared his throat and tried to explain all of this to her without using the words “I’ve been watching you” because that sounded so creepy.
“You pass by my house everyday,” he said, “And after awhile I decided I wanted to spend some time with you. You seem like a very nice person and I wanted to get to know you, Athena.”
Even after his explanation, Athena was still a little hesitant. The guy seemed nice enough. And maybe he really did just grow interested in the redhead who was constantly running late for work. But she was not used to people coming up to her and just asking her out like that. So she felt a little off her game. She could feel her cheeks warming up and her heart beating a little faster than usual.
But she was Athena Cykes. And since when did Athena Cykes back down from a challenge or an adventure? So, despite her nervousness, she gave a nod of her head and offered a bright smile. "I'm afraid I'm not terribly interesting. But alright! I'll agree to a date with you!" She stuck her hand out for him to shake. "It's very nice to meet you. I look forward to what you have planned!"
