Author’s note: so I finally started college, so requests will be slower than normal.
“Louder! It ain’t loud enough for us!!” At the command of Blackbeard, nobody ignored him. A feast had been thrown after a successful town raid. The town stood no chance against the might of your crew mates and your captain. There had been a great deal of burning and slaughtering, but you knew what you signed up for when you joined the crew of a Yonko. Just the strongest of men could join his crew, and you fit right in.
Only an hour ago the town had been filled with panicked screams and the cackling laughter of your crew, while now only the latter remained. Cobblestone streets ran red with blood and wooden rooves burned hot. There was hardly a door left that hadn’t been torn off its hinges, and a chest had been filled with all the valuable plundered from people’s homes. It was amazing how brutally efficient the Blackbeard Pirates were at ruining innocent lives for their own gain…
How joyful everyone looked, how much energy there was between the crew, even if it was for the wrong reason. How you wanted to dance with Blackbeard himself, even though you were a man roughly half his size. All these things and more swirled around your head like a hurricane wind. As you saw him approaching you with a smile on his face, that last fact became all the more apparent. “Is… something the matter, Commodore Teech?” You asked nervously.
“You’re not dancing. That’s the problem.” He cackles with laughter after the fact. “All my other men are drinking, eating and dancing, and all you’re doing is sitting on your ass. What’s the deal with that?” You look away, a little embarrassed. “Well, I don’t really know how to, and I don’t want to look foolish in front of the crew…”
Blackbeard cackles loudly at this. “Then get up on your feet and I’ll show you what you gotta do! Feel lucky, your captain is devoting time to you! Be glad to be in the presence of one of the strongest men in the world!” You gulp, your legs shaking wildly. You were never the most coordinated fellow, so any artful movement was foreign to you. Teech drags you to your feet and pulls you to the middle of the makeshift dancing floor. “C’mon, move it like you mean it!” He guides your arms this way and that to get you started. You had never been a dancer yourself, so this just feels awkward to you.
You’d never say this aloud, but his dancing was actually rather awful. More stomping side to side and swinging his arms around. But it did give you confidence that the attention wouldn’t be on you and you could dance however you were able. But soon, your crew mates began to clap in time, as much as they could for his dancing, and cheered him on. Hooting and hollering, they begin to chant for you as well, making you a little bit nervous. You shouldn’t be nervous though, being in a primarily male crew means that any mistake you make will just be laughed off.
To try and get rid of some of the pressure, you closed your eyes and just started moving however you wanted. Eventually it became a few movements you enjoyed doing and felt were good for the song. The cheering increased, and you couldn’t help but open an eye to peek at the crowd’s reactions. They were cheering for you, not your captain. It made you feel exhilarated, alive. Your could feel your heart swell in your chest, as your respect and love for your captain grew more and more.
But like all things, the song came to an end. You gave a bow and went back to your seat to one last round of rigorous applause. This was all the excitement your heart could handle for tonight, but next time you’d be happy to give an encore. From the look Blackbeard gave you, it would seem he was looking forward to that.
