I will say that I hate that they made Vamp!Bella "inhumanly beautiful" by giving her a smokey eye, falsies, and hair extensions. Hair and makeup had shot themselves in the foot completely by eclipse because they were doing this "subtle" full beat on human bella that meant they had nowhere to go but excessive with Vamp!Bella's makeup.
It's so immersion breaking for me to watch BD part 2 and see lash glue and foundation texture and obvious eye shadow in the first close up of Bella's face. I really don't think that Perma-makeup is what the book was referring to when they said the Cullens were beautiful.
But like, okay, what do I propose? Well, first, they should have never glammed Bella up more than her Twilight look. She looked plain there for a reason. And I know she didn't look like a blockbuster leading lady but like, sucks, it serves a narrative purpose. She should have looked WORSE in New Moon, not better.
When it came time to vampirize her, they should have made her natural features more prominent, made her eyes look bigger, smoothed and evened out her complexion, and done something better with her hair maybe some light false eyelashes. That's it. Imo. Then she'd fit in with the other Cullens rather than looking like a Cullen on prom night, but we'd also be able to see the difference more clearly.
Maybe when Charlie came to visit, Alice would have to "do her makeup" in a traditional sense so that her vampire beauty would make more sense to his eyes. Or something.
