They arent judging you as a woman or against you as a woman. They are judging the movement. The incredibly flawed movement.
A pretty good example is right above. Being scared of assault and murder. Bringing up walking around alone at night and the like. Men are much much much more likely to be assaulted or killed, but apparently being cautious when alone is a woman thing? Worrying about your safety is a woman thing? It’s pretty selfish to gender an issue that you arent even the largest victim of. Or how people dont care about women spiking mens drinks even after seeing it happen or people laughing at men abused in public while immediately helping a woman in the same situation.
And it doesnt stop there. Complaining about “rape culture”, something debunked time and time again. While you complain about a song with ambiguous lyrics or a statue that’s “ little too phallic, we have entire countries and states where women who rape arent even recognized by law. Systematic sexism that is completely overshadowed by whatever the smallest complaint. Thats why people laugh at “social justice warriors”. Because you prioritize the smaller unimportant or less important things. Because you go out of your way to focus on questionable topics while actual issues pass you by.
Literal feminist programs (based in feminist patriarchal theory) that treat all women in domestic violence cases as victims and all men as perpetrators regardless of who was actually doing the abusing. And no one has a problem with it. Or feminists openly closing and protesting government funded abuse shelters that aren’t focused on women. Or feminists protesting meetings that arent all about women. The massive hypocrisy in activism.
People mock your feminism when it unfairly compares itself to men on topics men experience more often or enough to warrent mention. People mock your feminism because it constantly insists that men dont deal with these things or arent concerned with these things. People mock your feminism because it needlessly genders issues and makes it harder for female aggressors or male victims to be recognized. People mock your feminism, your “social justice” because it’s flooded with made up issues and bigotry disguised as activism. People mock your feminism because even celebrities like Amber Heard can take advantage of what you’ve done and harm others. That all you have to do is say the right words or even just blindly support a woman in something and you will be praised. How celebrities like Donald Glover knownthat all they have to say is that men dont understand something (like being attacked) and people will fall over themselves for him. People mock feminism because the same ones who claim that feminism should only be judged on the good will openly oppose other movements that support groups they dont like. That feminists dont actually care about equality, they just care about women, and there is a big difference there.
Feminism is not synonymous with women. And thankfully it doesnt have monopoly over gender equality. Plenty of women share the same opinions as the men you are targetting here. That feminism has a lot of problems. That feminists care more about the label of feminism than actual equality. That feminists refuse to recognize, much less fix the bad in the movement. That you try and cover all that up by saying something about misogyny and expect everyone to fall in line, lest they receive the label of woman-hater.
So yes, you will occasionally get some comments. Some observations. Some opposition. Some pushback from people (not just men) who fond some problems with your activism. With your feminism.
