Robert Emmett Harron (1893-1920)

The second of nine children from a poor Irish family, Robert got his start in the film industry working as a studio messenger boy, where he quickly graduated to acting. Robert had the promise of a brilliant career, appearing in over 200 silents.

However, on September 1st 1920, Robert shot himself by accident while unloading a suitcase in a hotel room. He had brought the gun with him to keep it away from his unstable younger brother John. Robert didn’t die right away, and even joked about his condition. He appeared to be on the mend at hospital when he took a turn for the worse and succumbed to his wound five days later, at the age of 27.
