okay so on one hand choosing humans over themselves is very crowley and aziraphale and i also do like that they "find each other in every universe" or whatever but like. its not them. they don't have the same backstory or the same reasons for loving each other. 6,000 years out the window but oh look here have some old men as a replacement.

also it was SO RUSHED. i wouldn't be this conflicted if it wasn't so compacted. because there was such little time to work with it feels like they moved on so fast and just shut the book on the whole story instead of resolving it.

in conclusion, i am still conflicted. and sad. but the edits are so good. ao3 here i come.

Piping hot take: I don't give a shit if straight actors play queer characters as long as they do so with empathy and authenticity. When you say shit like "only queer actors should play queer characters" what you're actually saying is only OUT queer actors should play queer characters. If you're assuming an actor (or anyone else, for that matter) who hasn't declared their sexuality is straight, you are participating in heteronormativity.

i think that non-lgbtq+ people in spaces dominated by lgbtq+ people use that as an excuse to adopt queer culture and be really weird about it. like no sarah, just because you're part of an alternative fanbase doesn't mean you can throw around the word twink and dyke and it is extremely off-putting that you think it does. it doesn't make you an ally, it makes you creepy. you're making people uncomfortable.

this kind of goes along with the fetishization of queer people too in my opinion. like it's almost always cis straight women with their "gay besties" watching heated rivalry just to see two men kiss and wishing they had two boyfriends that wanted to fuck each other.

and i'm not saying people can't enjoy queer media, but like...maybe be aware of how you're interacting with it. because it's actually not cool and quirky how you're obsessed with the sex scenes in heated rivalry but ignore the political and emotional aspects of it and skip over the new season of bridgerton.

i'm aware this also isn't anything that hasn't been said before but by god has it been bothering me lately.
