Trans robots should be more of a thing. If people are going to insist on gendering robots then the robots should get a say in it. If a bot has enough of a sense of self to have a gender, then they have enough of a sense of self to decide that gender is wrong.
Iām sure anyone arguing for biological essentialism will still find a way to say this is Wrong but lbr the idea of someone goingĀ āno but whatās in your pantsā and being toldĀ āmore metalā is just. Itās sending me right now. I want a robot that just stares a transphobe dead in the eye and switches out the breastplate for one without boobs and asks what the problem is.
Theyāre robots. They donāt have reproductive organs. You want to argue about the programming? You want to argue that they shouldnāt have free will? Because thatās what it comes down to at that point.
Youāve all just like, completely skipped over the possibility that this crow has seen people using pens in this room, found one, and is trying to return it. Thereās been videos of crows picking up sweet wrappers and stuff and placing them in bins after seeing humans put their litter in bins. I really do believe that this crow is trying to return the pen and that is ADORABLE AS HELL.Ā
Crows are thought to be self aware by some scientists. Its perfectly possible the crow wants to return the pen to humans. Knowing it belongs to humans.
Another cool crow deal: Once, when trying to assess if crows could reason and use tools, scientists had two crows who didnāt know each other each take a wire from a table (one was hooked, one was straight) and try to grab meat from a bottle with it. The crows could see each other, though they had separate bottles. Only the straight wire worked for this, so they hypothesized that if crows could reason, the second trial would have the two crows fighting over the straight wire. The second trial started and, to the surprise of the scientists, the two crows both went for the bent wire, one held it down and the other unbent it. They both got meat out of their bottles. They came to a peaceful solution without verbal communication. Crows are probably smarter than we are.
Thereās a little girl who started feeding the murder by her house and they started bringing her trinkets (cool pebbles, coins, shiny things, bleached animal bones, etc) as a thank you.Ā

There are various examples of people who have helped crows and the crows not only come back to say hi, but also bring friends who need help over for the nice human to help.

If you mark them with a coloured dot that they can see and then show them their reflection in a mirror they soon realize that the reflection is them and not another crow.

They are also able to copy each otherās dialects and accents to fit in if they move to an area where the accent is different.
6. Crows regularly visit their parents after leaving the nest.
They also regularly live with their parents after reaching adulthood to help with raising their younger siblings for up to five years before moving out.

These are aspects of people that are affected by Discordās new update to its color scheme and font, and there very well could be more I didnāt mention. Yes, you read it right, abled people and neurotypical people too. You are not immune to eyestrain.
What are the issues?
A font which is both overly uniform and overly squished, with many letters that have essentially the same silhouette as others and could easily be flipped and look the same as another.
ā» This is dyslexic-unfriendly, as well as generally harder to read and an issue for people with visual impairments who may find that letters bleed together or that their eyes āskipā over letters or words at times.
A color scheme that is so highly saturated that it both immediately draws your attention and also makes you want to immediately look away.
ā» This is generally unfriendly, affecting people with sensory issues the most (ADHD/Autism, migraines, processing disorders), but itās also colorblind-unfriendly. Due to the differences between the colors being exclusively the part that changes the named color (hue; āgreenā vs āblueā) instead of both that and the colors being different intensities (saturation; āneon greenā vs āleaf greenā), they look practically identical.
Arenāt there more? No. This is pretty much all that was changed.
Discord changed TWO THINGS and pretty much managed to land every single person possible to genuinely hurt with a visual design change that doesnāt add or remove any elements. Including abled and neurotypical people!!!
Discord is currently a good number of peopleās lifeline and way to connect with others. And with this change, they just made using their app hurt. They know that we canāt leave their app without leaving our friends and communities behind. They know that if they can just sweep this under the rug, they wonāt have to do a thing.
...So we canāt let them.
Why would Discord do this?
Itās actually fairly simple. Discord was hemorrhaging money from its very conception. Discord only exists because investors think itāll make money in the future. If Discord doesnāt do as well, investors will push to make it ābetterā or theyāll drop their funding. Discord was probably forced into this situation, they probably knew exactly what would happen.
We have to show their investors that Discord was right.
What can we do to fix this?
