It seems to be the universal girl experience of caring and showing up for others to celebrate them or their achievements but having no one show up for us. Making a fuss over them, even if you can't show up on the day they've organized to celebrate, still making the effort to celebrate them in a small way, like going for lunch. And then having one or two if any people show up for your celebration. Going out of your way to organize a surprise for them, like a party or even just making sure they get their favorite dessert when you're celebrating together. Only to be the person who has to organize everything for their own celebration because if you don't, no one else will do it for you. Spending months thinking about or creating gifts because you want to show them how much you love them, even if you can't give them all that they deserve. Just so they know they're in the forefront of your mind. Only to have them not think of you at all or just get something at the last minute that you don't even like, because they don't think about you enough to remember you, unless you're constantly reminding them about your upcoming celebration. Just once, it would be nice to be celebrated and surprised. To be shown that all the little things are noticed. Not because we do it out of obligation or to have it paid back. But to have it done for us because we're loved as much as we love those we go out of the way for. Because if they deserve it. Why don't we? Why can't people show up for us just one time?
