Girls like her, my grandfather once warned me, girls like her turn into women with eyes like bullet holes and mouths made of knives. They are always restless. They are always hungry. They are bad news. They will drink you down like a shot of whisky. Falling in love with them is like falling down a flight of stairs.

Throughout the last few weeks it was true that Lily had been bugging (to the point of harassment) all of her friends about her birthday and she had high expectations, as she did every year, but what Liam had done for her had actually left her speechless -- an extremely difficult thing to do. The flowers and chocolates had been expected, but taking her to Chicago? She was shocked, especially after how they’d left things the other day. She didn’t know where they stood and the trip made it even more confusing seeing as they were still acting coupley and their hands had been practically super glued to each other all day -- but she didn’t want to think about it. All she wanted to do was enjoy her birthday with one of the only people she’d really wanted to share it with. She swung their hands as they entered the restaurant, as excited as a small child as she grinned up at him. “So, King of presents and all that makes Lily smile, why’dya pick Chicago?” she questioned as they were shown over to their table -- a table she realized was set for three. “Why... Oh my God. You didn’t. YOU GOT LEO TO COME TO DINNER WITH US?!”
