Arkham Has Fallen
Hugo Strange arrested amid asylum catastrophe
The inevitable has happened at Gotham’s own Arkham Asylum. After months of disparaging reports have hounded the organization, the abrasive head of operations, Professor Hugo Strange, has been arrested following a cataclysmic showdown with police last night. Heavily funded and guided by Wayne Enterprises, Arkham has housed many of the city’s most infamous and lethal psychopaths. Rumors abound that Strange controlled an underground staff who focused on ulterior experiments with patients both living and dead. The frantic and flustered professor was ushered into a waiting squad car as the building was raided on the order of acting police chief, Harvey Bullock. A full list of charges will be released soon.
Janus Cosmetics to Open New Store
Prepare to put your best face forward
Popular make-up company Janus Cosmetics is opening a brand new location in downtown Gotham. The new store is rumored to be their largest yet and will carry all of their most-sought after products. Janus invites you to transform into the new you at their ribbon-cutting ceremony later this summer.
Into the Night
Menagerie of monsters on the loose in Gotham.
Last night, a spectacular crash occurred involving multiple GCPD squad cars and a prisoner transit bus en route from Arkham. After being sent airborne, the bus landed violently atop a row of parked cars, spewing sparks and steam into the night sky. The only eyewitness to date is a transient woman who admitted to unlatching the rear hatch of the bus out of concern for potentially injured riders. Traffic cameras captured a view of the hatch swinging open, releasing a grotesque mob of disfigured - and agitated - passengers onto the streets. Shocked but lucid, the woman recalled hearing a sea of disturbing groans as the pack ambled away from the crash site. According to several officers on the scene, she insisted each prisoner had a freakishly inhuman trait all their own. While a final assessment of evidence is pending, GCPD held an official press conference this morning to announce their manhunt, in which they reluctantly referred to the escapees as “monsters.” While Gotham has no current legislation specifically addressing rampaging-monster protocol, authorities are urging citizens to stay in their homes until further advised. Frightened residents, understandably, are demanding answers.

Two Birds, One Clone?
Owl escape from city zoo raises new cloning questions
The Gotham City Zoo is the last place you’d expect a political -and moral - controversy to begin but that’s exactly what started over the weekend after the overnight escape of multiple birds from the Snowy Owl enclosure. City officials have been circulating legislature for months about the possibility of allowing early-stage clone testing in Gotham. Administrators from local laboratories have cited the escape of the popular owls a perfect opportunity to try cloning as a replacement. While zoo workers confirm the remaining owls are healthy and fit, they strongly oppose submitting the species - or any other - for experimentation. Known for their brilliant white feathers and dangerously sharp talons, these owls are uniquely diurnal, meaning they hunt not just at night, but all day. Their exhibit has been one of the more popular stops around the park. In the meantime, visitors to the zoo are making do with the handful of remaining owls on display in their now too-spacious structure. Local government will vote on the proposal sometime before the end of the year.

Nygma still can't beat the system
Surprise police raids. Resurrected bodies escaping. Inmate riots. Arkham Asylum and Indian Hill have had more than their fair share of controversy and attention lately. With all eyes on them, the powers that be have taken drastic measures in upgrading their security systems both inside and out. In addition to the fleet of new security cameras installed across the property, armed guards have been added to all sectors. Recently admitted inmate Edward Nygma, saw his valiant escape effort thwarted yesterday, thanks to a crack team of alert guards and their hunting dogs who tracked Nygma as he emerged from a rooftop air vent. A frustrated Nygma was quickly escorted back to confinement. Hopefully these new measures will keep the right people in and the wrong people out of the infamous facility.

Vengeful Azrael targets the city’s finest
Reports from multiple sources are still vague and unconfirmed, but witnesses are saying Theo Galavan - now going by the alias Azrael - has gone on a murderous rampage inside Gotham City Police Department. His hate-fueled streak seems to have been triggered by James Gordon, although Azrael seems to have a vendetta unrelated to Gordon’s previous history with Galavan. First numbers coming in have numerous fatalities reported, mostly officers on duty at the time of the ambush with countless additional injuries. Azrael engaged GCPD Captain Nathaniel Barnes in a rooftop duel before seriously stabbing him and fleeing the scene. All active duty officers are currently on the case.

Strange Bedfellows
Two of Gotham’s biggest names revealed to be unlikely allies?
Gotham is buzzing about the recent revelation of a connection between Thomas Wayne, the late philanthropic businessman and Hugo Strange, the current director of the infamous Arkham Asylum. Records show that both men worked together to launch Pinewood Farms, a contentious testing facility built years ago upstate that became an ethical nightmare for Wayne. Reports say Wayne was overrun by members of his board under the control of Strange who went by the nickname “The Philosopher” at the time. Wayne exited bitterly as Strange went on to test harder subjects and push patients to their limits for more sensational results. A series of incidents resulted in a slew of fatalities - both patients and staff - and the building was shut down. These recent reports acknowledging a widely forgotten relationship between the two men has put Wayne’s pristine reputation under the microscope.
Edward Nygma

Inside Edward Nygma’s lair of lunacy
GCPD was dealt another blow, when forensics department head, Edward Nygma, was arrested last week. Nygma was charged with various crimes including multiple counts of murder, lying to police and tampering with case evidence, among others. He is being held at Arkham Asylum, an appropriate cage for the self-proclaimed “monster”. Police investigating Nygma’s apartment found quite a bit of incriminating evidence. The information exposed in the past week - while troubling - have helped clear the name of James Gordon, who was immediately asked to be reinstated to the GCPD, but declined.
