(Never sent an ask before... Hopefully I'm using it correctly lol)
I recently watched the episode where Yugi risked his life to piece Yami's puzzle back together, and AAH. IT'S SO GOOD. THE ANGST AND DESPERATION TO HAVE A SPIRIT REPOSSESS YOUR BODY. THE WAY HE LOVINGLY CRADLES THE PUZZLE.
It makes me wonder if Yugi knows or remembers the VARIOUS murders Yami committed while controlling his body. If Yugi knows, would he be disgusted and horrified? Is he grateful (despite the murder) for protecting him? Does he know, and still cares for him so much that he still NEEDS to house Yami in his body? Does he still care for him deeply despite the horror? Even knowing that he's a spirit, he STILL considers Yami his Other Self???
They make me CRAZY. I am growing to absolutely love PuzzleShipping.
WELL....... i think they touch upon that at some point. Or at least it's very heavily implied. Yami DEFINITELY remembers, he just doesn't want to talk about it:
Yugi's last line there KILLS ME. what do you mean he swore to never open it again. Did they discuss it off screen and decide it was best to leave it in the past for the sake of avoiding the pain? Or better yet, even more likely— Yugi could just sense it, the crushing guilt Yami felt when he realized just how badly he had scared Yugi. No need for either of them to bring it up if they both know how they feel. Yugi's strongest trait is his forgiveness. There's no way he would hold it against Yami.
But let's be real here... Yugi's not clueless. He knew about his memory gaps and the mysterious "accidents" that were conveniently befalling his enemies. The real kicker is, especially after Death-T, he's well aware of his "Other Me" and there's no way he didn't know how Kaiba ended up. Despite this there are still several moments where he deliberately sics Yami on the Villain Of The Week knowing damn well how that's gonna go:
So I would dare argue that Yugi isn't entirely innocent either. He's Yami's biggest enabler for a good while. It's just that the Slit My Throat incident really put it into perspective for both of them, and Pegasus's haunting words were the last straw for Yami, at which point he finally starts to wonder "Oh Shit. am i the bad guy?"
