I’m currently reading the Campania arc, and I’m at the part where Ciel and Lizzy get separated from the others when the water-tight doors come down, and I noticed something that was pretty obvious all along but only really made an impact on me right then:

Snake, trapped on a sinking ship and terrified for his friends, still speaks as his snakes.

Before, my headcanon was that Snake is socially anxious and finds solace in projecting his own words onto his snakes when communicating with others, but in a severe situation like this, his need to speak as his snakes is still unusually strong.

Snake has OCD.
