I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things

my coworker announces that he's off to the dentist. someone reacts with a tooth emoji. is this a statement of dentist solidarity? a wish for my coworker to return with more (or fewer?) teeth than he set out with? simple word association? who can say

modern AU Snotlout headcannons

he's def a metalhead. He likes classic metal (Metallica, Megadeath, Black Sabbath, etc) but I think he prefers nu metal and alt metal (Deftones, SOAD, Tool, Slipknot, etc)

He also has a life alteringly intense obsession with Hatsune Miku that he keeps a secret. Only Tuffnut knows about it because he is equally obsessed

listens to Chappel Roan every now and again but he's not super into it. I just think he's a pink pony girl who dances at the club

absolutely horrendous at video games but likes playing them anyway. cant do PVP games because he gets too angry and breaks something in his house

likes RPGs though. he's bad at them but he likes them

Snotlout's dream Pokemon team: Skeliderge (named Hookfang), Sylveon (I saw this on another post and thought it was adorable), Tyranitar, Flygon, Dracovish (he's an abomination and i like him so Snotlout gets him), and Clodsire (the goat)

his real pokemon team would probably include Charizard instead of Skeliderge but it makes me angry to give MORE people Charizard (GAMEFREAK PLEASE STOP WITH THE CHARIZARD FORMS) so i used an alternative

his BG3 romance choices went Lae'zel, then Karlach, then Astarion, then Gale. i dont think he finished every run and he only found out that you could spare Minthara on his last run. he still chose not to and just kills her in the goblin camp every time.

theater kid in high school, but (this is inspired by @gr4v3-w0rms film student Eretlout AU that i'm obsessed with) tried out assistant directing in his junior year and realized he likes it way more than acting (he's also not absolute ass at it like he is at stage acting) and went to college for that

The closest i can see him to being a dom is in an office siren tease kinda way like he's aware that he's wanted and enjoys toying with someone and even then that'd only with the right kind of partner

Playing another role and specifically a feminine one would allow him to expiriment in that way bc it lets him detach from the expectations placed on him more easily. While I'd argue that those expectations are more passively gendered that explicitly, they heavily overlap with modern male social norms but are moreso framed as this is what a good viking/Jorgenson ought to do, they still have that gendered undertone. By embodying a woman with a different cultural background he could give himself the chance to rlly detach from all those shortcomings and play the role of someone who's effortlessly alluring
