I like the almost picturesque romance of Vaultknight
I like the complicated marriage of CoopBarb, the in this together for each other but also Janey
Then there is the fun shipping of DaneMax or Thaddimus
Also CoopHouse cause why the hell not?
Ghoulcy is like mirrors of each other, like Ghooper is looking at his past self when he sees Lucy.
I grew up in the early age of fandom where it didn't matter if it was canon, would/could be canon, we shipped it whether it was a canoe or a full blown cruise ship.
Canon was used as a jumping off point for fanart/fanfic and that's the best part of fandom.
This hits the nail on the head perfectly as to how I feel.
I *obviously* love writing Ghoulcy - I love how they’re foils/parallels etc of one another. I love their dynamic, I love the Beauty and the Beast parallels, heck, all the tropey wonders that abound.
That being said though, as I watch the show, I think Vaultknight is so lovely - seeing two people who just want to do the best they can, coming together? It’s just NICE, I really love it, and I’m excited to see what season 3 has to offer.
I adore the complicated relationship with Cooper and Barb. I love that she isn’t just a one dimensional villain - she’s dedicated to her marriage and her child, she loves Cooper and he loves her so fiercely, it’s compelling to watch and the idea of a Cooper who’s desperately trying to find the woman he loves? Find his child? OH I eat it up.
I ship Max and Dane - best friends to lovers? A classic - and Dane is such an interesting and underutilised and very hot character, again, I wanna see mooorrrre.
To me, the ghoulcy world and community we’ve created is super separate from the exact reality of the show, and that’s beautiful - I LOVE seeing the different ways people wrote their s2, I cried at the idea of Janey being a Ghoul, in one fic. Of them reuniting in another. In her having grown up, having long since passed. In some ways it’s more exciting if it doesn’t happen in the show, as then there’s more avenues and possibilities for us all to enjoy together!
