Is it time to pretty much give up all hope for Rick dating a man on screen? This episode was particularly blatant about it.

The Citadel of Ricks was originally a slumber party that just got out of hand.

Literally every relationship he’s had on the show he ends up being the one who gets more attached
Imo, the writers really backed themselves into a corner with Diane. Judging by her past appearances, they want it both ways: she's wild and edgy like Rick, but she's also the perfect wife and mother. If she really were such an amazing person, she'd be horrified by her husband's destruction--but the writers also want a cutesy love story, so in "Hot Rick," she's fine with Memory Rick driving their daughter insane so they can be together. Then C-137 Rick reveals at the end that the real Diane would never do that, so...what are we supposed to believe? How much of any of this is true?
I wish the writers would just drop this thread, but if they're going to keep picking it up, they need to decide if Diane's going to be a saint or a hot mess like Rick. She can't condone his actions and still be a good person.
I wonder if Beth has ever felt jealous of Morty because of how much time he spends with Rick.
Like imagine your estranged father finally comes home after 20 years. You don't ask why he was gone. You just accept him back into your life because you're terrified that if you push, he'll abandon you again.
He's pretty distant in the begining. He doesn't like your husband (but you're not that mad; because to be honest, you don't really like your husband). He doesn't talk to your daughter; except to make snarky remarks.
But most importantly, he barely spends time with you. Yeah, he says nice things to you; compliments your food, praises your intelligence; but it's... empty. He never actually spends time one-on-one with you. You hoped that when he came back, you would reconnect. You would have some daddy-daughter bonding time. Take back all those things you lost in your childhood. But he doesn't.
Instead he spends all his time with your son, Morty. And yeah, it's nice that he's connecting with the family. You've always wanted your father to meet your children; be part of your life. But you can't help but feel... bitter. Morty is the one that Rick always wants to spend time with. Rick always makes gadgets for Morty (Like he used to do for you when you were a kid). Morty gets to spend his childhood with Rick there.
And you don't. Instead, here you are, watching your son get to bond with your father in a way that you never got to.
I was soooo geeking over Rick falling back into dad mode when he had to go get the Beth’s back to their age until he said he didn’t leave his Beth died :( like oh yeah 😭

Morty's so funny because he's the only family member not to have been confirmed queer (or the last, depending on your opinion lol) but because he spends most of his time with his grandpa, the cattiest man in the world, he's so camp sometimes
