Story

Homeless AU

Lovie grew up orphaned and lives in the streets. She accidentally raised a dog as a child and now has an u dead companion that follows her everywhere she goes, protecting her from danger. She's still not aware of her necromancy abilities.

Princess AU

Lovie has been living in her father's castle her entire life, never allowed outside to see the world or even the townsfolk. Her father, King Alexander, is good to her, but he's always been over protective. Lovie has reoccurring nightmares and can't explain what they mean, but she has a feeling something is trying to call out to her. Something very dark and dangerous.

"Kids these days and their analog horror. When I was their age I ate three VHS tapes a day. Sometimes it was something good like Homeward Bound, other times all we could afford were secondhand copies of Blinky Bill. But we ate them and we were grateful."

"I tried going to the doctor once. Not sure why he was driving a Texaco truck. Or dressed like a trucker. Or at a truckstop. Or was saying 'Hey, I'm not a doctor, I'm a trucker'. But he wasn't sure why I had nipples either."

“Roy, that wasn’t... How about I just make a phone call? Get a second opinion?” She gives him a kiss on the cheek before she goes to call the doctor.

"But WHY do I have nipples?!"

“I’m not sure, Roy. Do you want to see the doctor? Maybe they can answer your question. We can go together and I can hold your hand if you’re scared or nervous.”

"Did'ya know... that you look good enough to eat?" The red devil chuckled darkly, using his sweater's sleeve to wipe off the saliva that was beginning to slowly dribble down his chin.

What the hell was this even supposed to be? A compliment? Flirting? A threat?

And how many times has Lovie heard that line? Many, but not from someone who looks like the devil himself.

She hitches her shoulders and turns around quickly, her emerald eyes widening once she sees the one addressing her. She backs up slowly, speechless, her shock and fear trying to make sense of all this.

Should it matter if this is a nightmare or if she’s being visited by a devilish fiend? Should it matter who or what he is? Lovie can’t lose her voice now. She opens her mouth...

...but nothing comes out.

"I'm sorry, sir? If you have a moment... I seem to be lost."

Pox waits from his position behind a bush with his crossbow looking down the sight while he watches his target.He crouches patiently while keeping a close watch on them, waiting for them to get within range to fire his bolt.His finger moves onto the trigger as he’s about to fire, and then suddenly“BAH!” The fae turns around in shock with wide surprised eyes as he hears the sound of a lady behind him.They seem to be asking for directions.Pox looks from the lost female to his target, then back to the female, then back to his target again as he tries quickly to think what to do.But then his eyes fall on the female again and this time he smiles, his fangs just barely on view beneath his black lips.“D'pends, where ya tryna get to? I’m not really from around these parts but if I know it I’ll help ya” He asks her maintaining that smile.He hears his target get into a 4x4 just off in the distance as he’s talking to the lady and turns his head around to see the target drive off.There’s a brief glimpse of mild frustration in his eyes as he loses his target, but as he looks back at the lady that frustration leaves and his smile returns.He’d just have to hunt later, he knew where their pickup spot was not at least.

Lovie looks down at the flier, but she’s unable to read...

However, she can recognized what a “wanted” poster is. Her eyes widen and she covers her mouth. “I didn’t... I’m sorry, I...” She looks back up at the hitman, her eyes watering.

Her distress is enough to summon something from behind her. A skeletal canine steps up from behind Lovie’s dress, green orbs glaring up at the fairy from its sockets. It snaps its jaws at him as intimidations since it cannot growl.

Lovie looks away, biting her bottom lip. Oh, she hates lying. Shaking her head, she decides to drop the act.

"I'm homeless," she tells him honestly, refusing to look up at him. "I... I'm sorry! I just couldn't handle seeing another die!" He grips at her hands tightly, bringing them close to her chest, shaking.

This is it. He's probably going to shoot her right where she stands or worse. She most likely cost him a paycheck if not delayed the process for him. Or maybe he just had some grudge against the person he's hunting after - she doesn't know the full situation. She just knows she now got herself in trouble with this dangerous man.

Wouldn't it have been better if she just minded her own business and stayed out of it? Even though it would've haunted her dreams? Knowing she could've saved a life but just didn't step in?

Whether she regrets it now or later, she has a bigger problem to face at the moment. She feels frozen in place, unable to make a mad dash for it. Would it matter when he has a gun on him?

"I'm sorry..." she mutters again, her voice choked.

Lovie notices the weapon in his hands. She did notice it before approaching him. And she noticed he was about to use it one some unsuspecting person. Mild panic flashes in her eyes as he kept glancing back at his target, but lets out a breath of relief once they managed to get away.

She acted before thinking, but now that she has the assassin's attention, she couldn't quite think of what to say. "Uh..."

Her green eyes look to the side, the panic setting in once again. "I... I hit my head," she blurts out. "I'm a bit disoriented. So I don't really remember where I am or what I'm doing. I was hoping maybe you could spare some bus change?"

"I'm gonna go eat a bunch of rubber gloves."

"Alright, darling, but save some for people who need them. Oh! While you're out, can you get butter? I need to bake soon and we're all out!"

Lovie offers a smile when he goes to caress his cheek, leaning into his touch. She looks surprised when he starts to explain he's not crazy. "I never thought you were," she says. "Crazy, I mean. I know you have special abilities that can't be explained easily. I'm marrying you, I should know this..."

It's her turn to caress him, but on the side of his beak. "Is there anything I can do to ease the pain? Anyway I can help you? I know I'm just an ordinary woman, but if there's anything I can do, please tell me."

She has him lay down in bed, removing his shoes so he's comfortable. She tucks him in and checks for his temperature with the back of her hand. "Have you been overdoing it? Is there something going on?" Maybe asking him too many questions isn't the best idea, considering everything is mixed up in his head at the moment, but she can't help it. She's worried sick. "I'm right here. I'm real, Roy. I promise."

Lovie frowns, looking at him with worry. "It's Thursday..." She takes his hand, placing her other hand over his cheek. "Roy, when was the last time you slept? You look terrible. Come, let's get you in bed." She starts leading him to the bedroom.

"Ah, sorry. I couldn't help but overhear. I love to sing as well!"

And now, to truly get her flustered, he tiptoes a hand up her thigh. Go big or go home!

Lovie looks up at him, her face now turning pink, but the smile is still on her lips. "Is somebody feeling playful today?"

Lovie giggles even more. "Well, it's working on me." She scoots closer to Chicken Man's side, her hip now attached to his. Leaning against him, she mimicks his walking fingers as her own walks up his chest.

And now it's his turn to fluster! So much so, in fact, that he literally melts into a puddle.

Lovie wins this round!
