CURRENTLY ON HIATUS
Hey guys, long time no see... And I'm afraid the news isn't great. I don't wanna go into detail, but I'm dealing with a lot IRL and even hype about KH4 hasn't been able to coax me back here. I will be remaining on hiatus for a bit. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm still alive and my offer to just chat on discord is still open if people want to catch up.
I really hope that things stop happening and I can get back here eventually. I miss you guys so much. I just can't deal with anything right now.
So... It's been a while.
I did take (and pass!) that class I was talking about a while ago, but I'm not sure I'm ready to come off hiatus yet.
I don't really know when I'll be back. I don't want to call it quits and delete my rp blog, but I also just haven't felt like being active on here again. I do kinda blame that on the lack of anything new from KH, specifically losing KHML.
So I'm putting myself on an indefinite hiatus for the time being. If anyone wants my discord just to talk, all you have to do is ask.
He looked very happy the other seemed to like the present. The ask about twine had him momentarily thinking. "No twine but uhmm..."
He put his hands together and pooled mana into it and started pulling and stretching it like someone working with taffy pulling the energy into a longer thiner shape with each pull. Once he had it thin enough he split it into two. He had an idea of what his master wanted it for so he'd been careful to make the thread the right thickness for it.
"Will this work? You want to make them into a necklace yea?" He didn't know any other reason he might want twine for. To him he didn't see it as a problem with gloves but more practicality. He could certainly see that it might be useful to wear it like that, harder to lose too.
So he took his own and threaded the string through it and carefully secured it in place. "There like this? I like the idea, much easier to keep safe this way." He smiled brightly at him.
"Yes, like that." Luxu nodded.
He took the magical energy that Myde had somehow crafted into a string and threaded into his own ring, making it into a necklace that was long enough to hang over the hood of his coat, but could easily be hidden away if needed. For the moment, Luxu left it out to be seen.
"Thank you." He expressed his gratitude again.
However, his stomach insisted again that it was time to eat. Luxu gently took hold of Myde's arm and tugged him in the direction of the food vendor he had been investigating.
"I found some place to eat." He said, "I'll buy."
she had seen many a strange thing in her life — riverboats billowing smoke like old jazz songs , tourists who danced barefoot through jackson square , women with feathered masks who swore they’d kissed ghosts under a gaslamp glow — and lord , mardi gras alone had brought in enough peculiar folk to fill a storybook. but this one — this boy ... err man?! was in a coat far too damn heavy for louisiana heat ( who moved like he wasn’t made of bones so much as clockwork gears ): he might just take the cake for the weirdest patron tiana had ever had. tiana tilted her head , one hand resting on her hip , the other idling with the fold of her apron. his thank you had been soft , almost unsure , like the words didn’t sit right in his mouth ( like they were borrowed from a foreign land ): and she might’ve missed it entirely if she hadn’t learned long ago how to listen for things unspoken.
❝ got a name , suga? ❞ she asked lightly , voice like warm praline — sweet with a snap beneath it. ❝ or should i keep callin’ you 'da boy with a thick coat on for it ta be nearly june?' ❞ her tone was teasing , but gentle ( the kind of playful mocking done with old friends or the kind that could put anyone nervous , at ease ): she wasn’t in the habit of pushing people before they were ready to be pushed. but even still , she watched him closely out of the corner of her eye , the way he turned from her like he was hiding something. not shame — not quite — but something secret and deliberate. it was akin to the way some folks pull a hood up in a storm not because they fear the rain , but because they fear being seen beneath it , fear looking more like a person with flaws than whatever glimmer of perfection they think they exude. she didn’t comment on it , tiana felt it was no need to startle such a skittish little thing. instead , she leaned forward over the prep counter just a little , elbow resting soft against the cool tile as her eyes flicked toward the bowl beside her , still fragrant with sweetbread batter.
❝ favor anything in particular? ❞ she asked , casual as the breeze off the mississippi. ❝ sweets or savories? or are you one of those types that don’t eat nothin’ if it doesn’t look like it played on cook's night out? ❞ a half-smile tugged at the corner of her mouth , but her gaze stayed soft and curious , but not mocking. she’d cooked for saints and sinners alike , after all , and the kitchen never did care whom was which. she could make a mean gumbo or a beignet so light it’d vanish on your tongue : all she needed was to know where his hunger leaned. ❝ only askin' ’cause folks with coats like yours usually got 'em some cold bellies , ❞ she mused , the words light as sugar sifted through a screen , ❝ and cold bellies tend to want warm foods , guess you in luck ya came to the doorstep of norlins gumbo queen , huh. ❞ she turned back toward the stove then , deft hands moving without needing to think — a flick of the wrist here , a pinch of spice there — but her ear was still tilted his way , waiting. letting him speak or not speak as he pleased. real strange one , she thought again , but not unkindly. strange was just another spice in new orleans. helped keep her on her toes anyhow.
The people of this world had such a different culture than Daybreak Town, even down to their accents that for a second, Luxu was not entirely sure what Tiana was saying. She asked him for his name, that was for sure, but all that other stuff about cold bellies? Luxu had no idea what that meant.
Which was thrilling in a way. Although his mission -the whole reason Luxu was in New Orleans to begin with- was to scout for Darkness, Luxu made a mental note to study the linguistic quirks and coloquialisms of this world while he was here.
"My name is Luxu." He said, and then added. "And the coat isn't all that warm."
Truthfully, Luxu did not notice whether he was warm or cold with the coat on, all he knew was that it kept his heart protected from Darkness. He strummed his fingers on the countertop, and moved on to the next question that Tiana had asked.
He still was not sure what she meant by people with coats like his having cold bellies, or what 'played on a cooks night out' meant, but behind all that was a very simple question: What did he like?
"I like cinnamon." He said, thinking of the cinnamon bread his Master had given him, and the sweet cinnamon rolls in Mr. Rowell's bakery.
But Tiana already knew that. She had talked of cinnamon bread and waffles, and caramel cinnamon drizzle. All of which sounded delicious to Luxu, but Tiana wanted specifics. 'Sweets or savories' she had asked.
"Sweet." Luxu answered. "The caramel cinnamon drizzle sounds really good."
Xehanort allowed a small scoff to flow out of his mouth. "Just because I take my time, does not mean you need to hurry me along. Do you forget your rank?" A bizarre time to pull such a thing - but it did feel comforting to do when he had just spent so much time being more .. vulnerable. At least the sharpshooter hadn't thrown it into his face, which he could be silently thankful for.
Sunlit hues fixated themselves onto the front hallway of the Academy, drinking in the details. He could almost hear the classmates of his through his ears -- but they felt distant. Air blew through his nostrils, as he finally moved once Xigbar stepped inside. Fingers let go of the door, letting it slowly close.
"Yes,'' he breathed out, starting down the hallway, even trailing a finger briefly against the wall's surface as he went.
"There had been a couple of masters, but my own master had .. retired after certain events happening here.."
He shook his head. "The Academy had shutdown for a couple of years after that.''
"The events that they all died in, I take it?' Xigbar nodded in the direction of the graveyard again.
The very same events that he had pretended to die in. He had to move on from the life of Bragi afterward, but that was not to say that he had not come back every now and again to keep an eye on things for a while. He stopped checking in pretty much after Xehanort and Eraqus had become Masters.
One thing Xehanort said did make Xigbar raise a brow.
"It closed for a couple of years?" He repeated, "So wait... You mean it opened up again? Is it still open?"
The academy did not look open from where Xigbar was standing, but that hardly meant anything. Just because it was not bustling with students like the old days did not mean that the Academy was not being kept open for archival purposes. If that was the case, Xigbar was even more interested in scoping things out inside.
Luxu seriously did consider the question, as the two of them continued further and further upwards, their footfalls echoing eerily within this empty space. He hadn't taken the time to judge exactly how tall the lighthouse might be whenever they had been outside, so all he could figure to say was, lamely, "Wayyy too many."
At last, their ascension paid off: right at the top, there was yet another wooden door, and this one seemed even more decrepit than the one through which they had entered the lighthouse.
"I really don't think we have to worry about anyone being here," this said, rather hopefully, as he eyed the state of the doorknob and all the rust and caked-on dust that had built up on it. More cobwebs in the corners, of course. "...But, maybe we should still knock?"
He knew there was no reason for them to do so if his theory was correct, but the Master had always insisted on politeness above all else---and what was more polite than knocking on a door even with no one on the other side?
Knocking sounded like a reasonable idea, but Perbia had a thought of his own that he wanted to try.
"Hang on..." He said, pressing his head against the door and positioning himself to listen.
The hood over his ear did muffle things a little bit, but as Perbia concentrated on listening, it was easier to hear regardless of the hood.
Clink clink clink... Whirl...
Those were mechanical noises just like in the Clock Tower, Perbia pulled away from the door again.
"It is definitely automated in there." He declared, but still nodded in approval at Luxu's suggestion, "It wouldn't hurt to knock anyway. Just in case."
The trees parted gently as Kairi passed, her fingertips brushing leaves damp with evening dew. Twilight Town’s forest always seemed to breathe with its own rhythm, and tonight, it thrummed faintly beneath her boots—like a heartbeat half-remembered.
She didn’t know why she’d come this way, not exactly. Only that something about the Old Mansion had tugged at her since her arrival. A whisper, a pull, an echo of something buried deeper than memory. Her gaze flicked toward its looming frame between the branches, shrouded in ivy and quiet.
The air near it had changed—thicker, maybe. Tense. She couldn’t see it, but she felt it… like eyes vanishing behind a curtain. Still, she pressed forward, boots sinking into moss and soil as she whispered under her breath, “Sora… if you left any trace behind… I’ll find it.” She didn’t notice the silhouette behind the window vanish. Didn’t notice how the shadows stirred just a little too long after she passed.
But the mansion was watching her now. And something inside was waiting.
Luxu was not determined to stalk Kairi through the whole mansion, he did have his own business to attend to after all, but he still had to keep his eye on her somehow. Which was where still having control over lesser Nobodies came in handy. Sending a handful of Snipers would be too obvious, they were his signature underling after all, but Dusks answered to anyone and lucky enough, were fairly common in Twilight Town
"Keep a watch on her." He instructed, "Report her activity, I want to know what she's doing. Try not to emgage"
The downside of using Dusks was that they were not the most subtle of lesser Nobodies, and very easy to defeat, even for a novice Keyblade Wielder. Aw well, at least if they got caught up in a fight, the Dusks were a great distraction to keep Kairi from noticing that Luxu even was there.
And even if she somehow did notice him, that was what the robes and mask were for in the first place, Luxu reminded himself. All he really needed to do was not be the version of himself that she would recognize.

If Xigbar still had two eyes, he would have winked, but alas, he settled for shooting Noctis a mischievous grin.
"Well, one of us has to be the pretty one, and it's not gonna be me." He said, gesturing to his eye patch and scarred face.
It was too soon to tell Noctis not to worry, but for now he just patted the younger vampire's shoulder -smacked it playfully is really more what Xigbar did- and laughed.
"Just drink your shake, I'll be fine."
Xigbar turned and scanned the diner before casually stepping away from Noctis. What he sensed was another vampire, which was always hit or miss. Not every vampire behaved themselves as well as Xigbar did when it came to sharing hunting grounds. If this newcomer wanted to try to push him out of this territory, Xigbar may very well call Noctis over for reinforcement.
However, it was not long before Xigbar's eye landed on a familiar face and he cracked out another laugh and turned back Noctis.
"It's alright, Noct, I know this guy!" He waved his companion over.
He then turned his attention to smacking the newcomer's shoulder similarly to how he had done to Noctis moments before.
"Demyx! What brings you out this far?"
((Okies so yeah, I have a few replies done on mobile, but can't trim posts so, it'll be a hot minute before I can get them in my queue.))
I might finally just start writing my replies on mobile and putting them in a queue. Forget about me using icons though, I have no desire to transfer all of my icons to my phone and create any kind of system that lets me tell which one is which.
Edit: anybody know a trick to trim posts on mobile?

Yeah... So sorry about the completely unannounced hiatus. I decided to take the summer (mostly) offline so I could focus on other things. Namely working and saving up for a class that will hopefully mean I can get a better job soon.
Good news: I can finally afford the class.
Neutral news: I don't know what this will do to my activity yet, so for now I'm remaining on hiatus.
If I have any more news I will update you guys. I am still holding onto my drafts so once I'm ready to start rping again, I'll be able to pick up where I left off.
I'm officially enrolled. Class starts in September. I'll see about getting a few replies in the queue this week.

Good news: I can finally afford the class.
Neutral news: I don't know what this will do to my activity yet, so for now I'm remaining on hiatus.

Baldr stares up at Xigbar for a long moment, yellow eyes scanning and prying as if trying to dig out information without saying anything. Confusion is clear on his face for a moment before being replaced with a hollow-eyed grin.
This wasn't Bragi. It couldn't be, right? Perhaps he was just being silly.
He steps back, extending a hand to Xigbar. "Correct, sir. I'm Baldr, it is a pleasure to finally meet you." Memories of trained politeness flicker in like embers, finally something useful, "Apologies for bump- bump- bumping into you, sir. I was lost in thought."
His eyes do one more flicker over Xigbar's face before looking away, his attention easily pulling elsewhere for a moment before he reels it back in. "You re- you remind me of someone I think I used to know. How funny!"
Xigbar's own eye narrowed at Baldr, remembering that the white-haired boy always did have a real weird knack for knowing what was in people's hearts. Lucky, having volunteered to be turned back into a Nobody in order to be a vessel for Xehanort's goals, the contents of Xigbar's heart were very carefully disguised.
Yet, it seemed like Baldr recognized something in him, and Xigbar had to come up with a very good reason for that. Xehanort, once again, made a very easy scapegoat.
"Well, I got a piece of the Old Coot's heart inside me, or something like that." He waved off the recognition, but for a little bit of fun he added. "Or you know... Maybe you knew a relative of mine."
Luxu inferred that, initially, Perbia wasn’t as curious as he was given that hesitant posture, and was about to announce that they could leave if he wanted to. It wouldn’t be worth exploring if his brother was fearfully spending his time here, handling each ascending step with anxiety. However, the moment Perbia decided to take initiative, Luxu allowed his excited intrigue to well back up.
“Certainly---and I’ll be right behind you,” he ensured, moving to grab the railing in kind. Yet when his vision caught the sparkle of webbing in the dim light filtering in through the still-open doorway, he quickly withdrew his hand---and decided that he would be just fine without the railing.
“Just… keep an eye out for creepy-crawlies.”
Perbia almost paused again at the mention of creepy-crawlies, thinking again of imagined shapes lurking in the shadows. But after a second he recognized the term 'creepy-crawlies' as usually being in reference to things like bugs and spiders instead of actual danger. Perbia could handle bugs and spiders, he was even slightly thrilled by the idea of maybe collecting a few.
"I'll keep a look out for you." He promised, taking the first step towards the stairs.
They were grated metal, a little rusty and creaked slightly when stepped on, but solid enough that Perbia got more and more confident with each step. His gaze followed the stair, spiraling up and up towards the top, which somehow seemed even higher now that they were in the lighthouse attempting to climb to the top.
"How many steps do you think there are?" He asked, a little upset that he had not started counting at the bottom.
((Okies, so the dog was more demanding than usual tonight -and he is very demanding- so I got next to nothing done. I'll see if I can squeeze the doodle requests in tomorrow.))
