the shoreline clings to her in quiet ways — dampened hems , shoes dangling loose from her fingers , salt threading the air and settling soft against her skin. tiana stands just where the tide dares to reach , posture steady but not untouched by the strangeness of it all , like a woman rooted firm who’s found herself in soil she don’t quite know just yet. her gaze lifts — drawn to that figure in the water — and for a moment , curiosity flickers there and its all low and golden , held careful behind composure. ❝ oh! i wouldn’t go sayin’ 'm lost , exactly , ❞ she answers , voice even and warm , though it carries the faint hush of someone still finding her place in a world that don’t follow the same rules that she’s used to. a breath of a laugh escapes her ( it is as giggling babes / as those whom seek joy ): and her weight shifts , skirts gathered just enough to keep from the tide , though the ocean’s already made its claim.

❝ mmh , now that’s the kind of problem i don’t mind havin’ one bit , ❞ tiana hums low in her throat , voice warm as fresh bread , hands movin’ with a rhythm that feels near like music — steady , sure ( like she’s been speakin’ this language long before words ever found her ): but mayhaps it was cause she had. ❝ a table groanin’ under the weight of good food , sugar and spice hangin’ thick in the air… that ain’t excess , that’s celebration. that’s folks comin’ together and meanin’ it. ❞ tiana glances over , a soft smile touchin’ her lips — and its not flashy , nor is it overly loud , but something much more rooted deeply ( like somethin’ grown honest from the ground up ): flour dust clings to her fingers like the palest constellations and she brushes it off with an easy flick of the wrist ❝ and i gotta say , it sure is nice havin’ someone in the kitchen who don’t treat it like a place they just wandered into by accident. ❞ a quiet chuckle follows , light as sifted sugar. ❝ some people think cookin’ is all guesswork and luck… but no , ma’am issa whole lotta patience and care , it’s knowin’ how to listen when the gumbo pot says it needs a few shots more of tabasco. ❞

❝Well,❞ Jane began, trying to not let her excitedness get the better of her. Being in Africa was such a dream come true, and even more so for her research. It was such a magnificent journey, but also… an experience, that's for certain. ❝Seeing the gorillas were the primary objective, and we got to see plenty of them! ❛ oh , i'm from twilight town. it's ... actually , kinda like this world , just smaller. it's , well , it's called twilight 'cause it's always twilght. ❜

olette can't help but laugh a bit at the reasoning behind the name , but she doesn't linger on it , too busy letting her eyes trail over every detail of the restaurant. it's gorgeous , tiana clearly has an eye for detail.

❛ our bistro's a lot smaller , but ... it's pretty cozy. there's always plenty of people , & the food is always good. me & hayner have worked there for a while now & i like it pretty well. ❜

she listens to tiana talk intently , a smile forming on her face. she'd never left twilight town before , the closest she ever got was meeting sora , but olette wasn't sure that really counted. if there were other worlds out there like this , she wanted to know more about them.

there is something soft about the way olette says it to tiana , like she is still standing in that place even now , half held by it , half wandering somewhere new. and tiana pauses with the highball glass in her hand , amber colored tea catching the low light like a bottled sunset and for a moment , she lets herself imagine it , lets it settle into the back of her mind. a town that never leaves the golden hour between day and night. a place that lingers just on the edges ( like the crisp corners of baked mac n cheese ): truly , tiana thinks , the vast worlds and realms of the universe was astonishing or in the words of her dear husband : ashidanza.

❝ now here's that tea sugar , let me know if it's too sweet for you. can always get ya a glass of unsweet on the side. ❞ and she continues without missing a beat , her right foot going back and forth like an excited child that cannot sit still. ❝ but a town that's always set in dusk , huh? sounds like a downright beauty if ya ask me. course i reckon you don't need me to tell ya that. ❞ she sets the glass down all gentle and careful like , always careful — just the way her daddy taught her. sweet tea belongs in steady hands and such sweet things always deserved the proper care and respect. it was one of the many lessons from her daddy that tiana carried with her throughout childhood and still , into adulthood. physically her father was gone but his spirit definitely continued on through tiana and her food. and tiana listens intently to olette in-return ( just as she is sure the young women is hanging onto her every word ): it is a sense of comfort for the once-turned-frog-now-turned-princess. that no matter the realm , food and kind words would always be a common ground , a unifier if you will. ❝ oh well this here ain't no bistro suga but i get what ya mean. i have a fondness for the comforts a cozy hole-in-the-wall spot can bring , i might have to take a trip there with ol' 'veen sometime. ❞

there is a quiet smile on her lips when she says it — thinking of naveen ( but when is she not? ): thinking of the way he would laugh too loud , charm way too easily. how he'd fill up every corner of that eternal twilight place with silver spooned rich boy upbringing and gold-bright living. she leans against the table just slightly — not imposing , never that — but present. even after a decade tiana , still , sometimes found it hard to just sit down. to take it easy , to relax. but she'd learned from naveen. on how to do nothing and not feel bad for enjoying leisure , for welcoming rest. it was a push and pull with the two of them. a gentle give and take and back again that made them work , that held their love like a newborn cradled in their mother's arms. ❝ funny thing about places like that , ❞ she murmurs , voice warm as fresh bread , ❝ sometimes they hold pieces of you without askin'. and they make you who you are. ❞
