“‘S not like I’d mind. You’ve never been particularly heavy, baby doll. You go ahead and recharge. I’ll make sure we get back to our berth, alright?”
He brushes a few more chaste kisses along Rodimus’s cheek, covering them both up manually and nuzzling the side of Rodimus’s face.
“Let me do stuff for you, ‘kay, babe? ’S what a good boyfriend’s supposed to do when you’re upset.”
“Okay, okay… I get your point.” He smiles slightly - it’s a weak, but honest smile, and Rodimus nuzzles the side of Springer’s neck affectionately before curling up comfortably in his lap, closing his optics right away. He feels relaxed and safe, and for a moment is able to forget about the day he’s just had. “Mm… If you wanna… Okay.”
Springer waits until Rodimus is deep in recharge, continuing to pet him for an hour or so, before he decides to move them. Lifting his lover carefully, he walked back to their quarters, keying the code remotely to open the door.
After taking a moment to lock up and clean them both off a bit, Springer lies down beside Rodimus and pulls him to his chassis. He doesn't really know what'll happen, now that Prime's dead, but this is gonna be the only death. That much he's decided.
Because he'll be damned if he lets Rodimus fall away from him like this.
