i wrote a whole god damn paragraph somewhere about how the hardest thing gordo livingston ever did was leave green creek (more specifically leave behind ox and mark) but it has vanished and im pissed

gordo left ox.. and he left behind mark. he had to. he had to do it to protect joe, because he knew if joe never came back how much more that would hurt ox. so he had to leave, after being left behind by the man he loved, he had to do the very same while also leaving behind the boy he helped raise. the boy he had promised to protect. the boy he had warned against the bannets for this exact reason, and now he had to do the very thing that had hurt him so much all thise years ago. in his decision to leave he had become the very thing he had warned ox against from the very beginning, but he has to, he has to protect joe, he has to make sure this family, ox's family, mark's family is never hurt agine.
