daily reminder to stay hydrated and not give a fuck about what other people think
Stilgar? Is that you?
âIâm 40. Married. We yearned for children. But I have a genetic abnormality that prevents me from metabolizing folic acid. I cannot grow a fetus with a fully-formed neural tube. This bill will make it illegal for us to abort a pregnancy that cannot possibly be viable. https://t.co/8KgZBbEwGDâ
Link out to the whole thread - she fucking nails it.
All of them - I need all of them, NOW
a little bike porn for my babe.
Sorry Iâm late I was obsessing over herb spirals
Yeah, theyâre gonna lift the working class right into a company town.
Only rich people would think this was a good idea.
Learn your history, people!
We DID this shit- for DECADES. It was fucking awful. Companies paid people in âscripâ which was only good for use at the Company Store. So effectively, the company got your money coming and going, and they didnât pay you at all. And the longer it went on, the less likely you were to have savings that could have helped you move away or get a different job.
Iâve already seen one ad trying very sneakily to promote the idea of âAmazonBucksâ, including giving them to workers as rewards, or instead of things like healthcare, sick days, and PTO.
Hereâs your reminder that scrip is fucking illegal, that company towns are always a shit idea that should stay dead and buried, and that if unions didnât work? Every big company out there wouldnât be fighting tooth and nail to destroy them.
#UnionStrong #SolidarityForever
Thereâs literally folk songs about the whole factory town/company town and âcompany storeâ system and how shitty it all was.
Check out The Women if Copper Country.
I've been thinking about that roommate post all day - as one does - and honestly, that is exactly how my smol corner of tumble town feels.
Like a big ol' house with dragon turrets and wizard towers, and teeny tiny nooks and crannies where the piskies linger, and the goblins sell deep purple umbrella drinks for half a chocolate dollar.
Window seats in oval alcoves, a carefully page-marked book resting neatly beside a well-loved stuffed rabbit - one eye lopsidedly re-stitched after a smol run-in with an errant floof, cushions still warm from being sat upon for hours by the body that just got up to fetch a glass of chocolate milk and a cinnamon biscuit.
Spiral staircases leading absolutely nowhere except on rainy Thursdays when a secret room appears if you step on that one wooden tile in exactly the right way.
Ornate balconies filled with tiny lemon trees, birdbaths and carnivorous plants, lipstick marked wine glasses on dainty wooden tables, while a pair of black lace knickers flutters gently on the breeze.
In the kitchen, well used copper pots swing gently from hooks set in the beams, and the microwave beeps the "end" signal to the cat lying sleeping in a sunbeam.
The huge dining room, table set with mismatched silverware, granny's best porcelain, and a few candles thicker than a man's arm, burnt down to the wick; the scent of freesias tickling your nose.
And a room entirely stuffed with bean bags and books - so.many.books! and chonky wingback chairs, fluffy rugs invitingly strewn in front of an enormous fireplace, rainbow light streaming through stained glass windows.
Outside, a forest of endless trees; swings, hammocks, and hidden secret corners bedecked with summer roses, perfect for mid-afternoon tea.
Beside the pool - sparkling lasciviously in the morning sun - a pile of soft towels teeters precariously next to the unicorn floatie just begging to be allowed in the water.
We won't talk about the dungeons because even here, some things are too intimate to share.
Living here is good. Very very good...
That does it....I have to get an invite to Shiny's castle! Please?!?!?!?!? @itsshinycollectordestinyworld ?!?!?!??!! I'll be a good sparkly! I'm very neat, I can be quiet (if needed) and I am very gentle with books!!!
Aaaaawww, you're such a very sweet sweetie-heart-pie, @daf-fittie
Your rooms have been aired, the windows burnished to an almost pearlescent shine, and the floors waxed in anticipation of your arrival. The piskies will help you stow your stuff, and the goblins from under the stairs have been instructed to issue you with two (2) free umbrella drinks, and a map.
And don't worry, the overly-dramatic wardrobe in the corner doesn't actually eat people, no matter what it whispers while you're trying to sleep... Just throw it the odd block of cheese and perhaps a few peanuts, and you'll all get along swimmingly.
Welcome home, Friend.
Am I to understand there is cheese and peanuts on offer at Castle Shiny?
Of course! Cheese, peanuts and all the (non-gut-ravaging) pizza a body could possibly want, Mr Wolf :)
I want to go to Shiny's Castle too...How much is the entry fee? đ
Absolutely free and gratis, Friend - welcome!
Make yourself at home, and please enjoy the pool. That poor unicorn floatie is absolutely desperate for a dip... Oh and if you tickle it behind the ears, it will eventually stop licking your leg.
Don't forget to pop into the kitchen for a slice of apple crumble - the goblins spent ages whipping the cream.
Have fun!
@inappropriate-sadist This is where I want us to visit next, more than anywhere else in the world. It is EVERYTHING.
@cherrytreeblossoms
I may need a few of your special kisses to be convinced đ
Psst- @itsshinycollectordestinyworld We will be spending *most* of our time between the (ahem- air quotes) âreadingâ nooks and pool.
You are most welcome to do so, Friend! However, for your convenience, there is a delightful bower (complete with a lovely assortment of books, interesting cock-tails, and other necessary items - winkwink-nudge-nudge) situated amongst the cherry trees with your and your beloveds' name on.
Also, don't forget to offer the unicorn floatie one (1) slice of watermelon - that way she will never breathe a word of what you two scamps get up to in the pool.
Have fun, Friends ;)
Ooo, this place sounds perfect. Puuuurlease?đ
Absolutely and indubitably, Friend! And welcome!
If I may be so bold as to suggest the Blue Room? If the merpeople and selkies don't tickle your fancy - ha ha, as if! - the mighty kraken residing just below the deepest deep of the wardrobe bottom most definitely will.
A word to the wise though - bring your sunglasses. Because as much fun as it is to frolic with the fishies in the deep blue sea wardrobe, the otters prefer sunning themselves on the rocks, and I'm sure you'll want to spend as much time as possible with your kin :)
As always, be sure to collect your complimentary umbrella drink and please, enjoy yourself!
Oh and also, the wood nymphs may try to offer you a bite of cake - don't accept. Just say no, unless of course you want to spend a year and a day dancing with the wind...
@itsshinycollectordestinyworld Shiny you really are the wonderfullest dragon. I hope things in your lair are good for you these days. Mwah!
Yes mmmmmmmm
Used to love that show - that was how many lifetimes ago???
ancient greek word of the day: ÎșαÎșοΞΔÏÎźÏ (kakotherÄs), unfitted to endure summer heat
this literally means âbad at summerâ pass it on
Reblog if you, too, are bad at summer
I live where you can barely really call it summer - and I still wilt.
It's damn near impossible to sit and watch an entire baseball game on tv without slipping into a life-threatening coma.
But, and I realize this makes me approximately 117 years old, the simple joy of baseball in the background on the radio? On a warm summer evening relaxing at home? While washing up a few dishes then having a cocktail on the screen porch, watching the birds and squirrels?
Oh, fuck yes. Bring me my shawl and black socks and slippers. How soon before I can start pulling my pants up to my nipples, is there a rule?
ditto to @aireandsugarâ Â Baseball on the radio - my grandfather working, chatting, fixing things, it was AM of course - so fiddling with the dial... Â the only way to engage with baseball (well - maybe beers in the sun at Wrigley). Â
The most amazing colors as they ripen. Â
The main function of your little toe is to make sure all the furniture in your home is in place.
Broken pinky toe agrees.
if youâre on tumblr and over the age of 24 it means the mental illness won
Tumblr was barely founded when I was 24. Awful exclusionist, donât ya think?
Al Gore hadnât created the internet yet when I was 24!!!
Dammit. đ
Please, please....
The idea that one's mind is the only impediment to the body being able to do any thing is a bit whacked.
Not to mention very fukken ableist.
I can do a lot of things - a lot of things people think I shouldn't be able to do even. But regardless what my mind thinks I should/could/shouldn't/couldn't, my body can only deliver what it has the capacity for.
And that sure as fuck isn't any thing...
Exactly that! Â And vice -versa!
