I'm sure this has been done before but alas
my personal thoughts on "polyphemus" is that polyphemus was gonna actually give a gift ot odysseus and then he said, "i'm so glad we see eye to eye."
and polyphemus thought the pun was atrocious and decided to kill him instead
Odysseus in Epic: the musical
You want me to introduce myself? The thing that almost killed Odysseus?
do you ever think about hector seeing achilles on the battlefield for the first time. about the cold sweat of premonition striking him, making the spear slippery in his hands, and then he realizes that achilles is so young. about hector thinking of his brothers, of his son. and knowing in his heart that, like a man raising the cub of the lioness he's slaughtered, he could never kill this boy.
1. i have a degree in this and in fact was the outstanding graduate in classics in my year. wouldn't really call that fandom.
2. the trojan war cycle as a whole, and especially the iliad, are rife with these conflicts of how people should feel and how they do feel. and hector is, at his heart, his father's son- a man with the makings of the next king of troy, held back from fulfilling that role only because he must instead fulfill a prophecy. this is the man whose father kissed the hand of the one who slaughtered his son, whose father dined with the man who said he would leave hector's body as a feast for dogs, whose father risked the wrath of achilles because he believed in the chance that he could appeal to achilles' memories of his own father. do you not think hector, then- when the fighting was fresh, before the troops had grown tired and the harvests grown thin- could look at achilles, this lion in a teenager's body, this boy that he somehow knows deep in his heart will be part of troy's downfall, and wonder if he had what it takes to kill him?
anyway. aeneas's thighs. my final message. goodb ye

do you guys think jesus, the son of a carpenter, smelt the wood of the cross & temporarily thought of home
i must not lie down on my bed with my phone. lying down with my phone is the time-killer. lying down with my phone is the little mistake that brings total academic obliteration. i will face my phone. i will permit it to show me my updated tumblr feed. and when i have scrolled past a few posts i will turn over my phone and place it down. where the procrastination has gone there will be nothing. only i will remain
i was going to learn 12 languages, read 250 books and learn 75 new skills this year what happened
