Part 2
The scary thing about Yellowjackets is that we’re led to believe that these girls have gone feral. They haven’t. Even towards the end, they are insane but they are not feral. There is a deliberation to pit girls death that, despite being able to hear the girls howling and chasing her down, we can tell that they are very much aware of what they are doing. We see the dolls they tied to the trees, we see the traps meticulously laid out to hunt their pray, and we see the gold necklace, purposefully clasped around their victims neck as they prepare to hunt her.
Their clothes are dirty, and made of animal skin, their cries are animalistic but it’s the little details that tell us just how human they are, the methodical nature of their brutal actions.
They are in a cult, and they hunt and kill their friends, but there are steps leading up to that, they don’t just sit there and - in there blunt, animal brains - decide to chase their friends. No, they stand in a circle and draw cards. They give a choice, you can surrender yourself and allow yourself to be killed, or you can run. You know you won’t be able to get away but you still run, because no matter how deep into the cult you are, you are still human, it doesn’t matter how crazy you are going or how much you hallucinate, because there is still a part of you that holds on to that sense that exists in the outside world, this insane notion that you’ll be able to escape, as you run through a forest that you yourself have laid traps all throughout.
They are crazy, but they are not feral, there is a method to everything they do, there is a technique to their cruelty. When I think of this topic, for me, it always comes back to Shauna. Shauna and Adam specifically.
I always think about how, when tasked with dismembering adam’s body, Shauna’s cuts where so clean they were considered surgical. This is not a coincidence, she learnt this during her time in the woods. The girls chase down their victims and then Shauna dissects them so precisely that, even 25 years later, the police mistakes her work for that of a practiced surgeon.
Does that sound feral to you?
okay but here's the thing I can't shut up about. they would have been these people anyway!!!! tai did everything she said she was going to. jeff reminds shauna "secrets have always been a part of us." lottie has struggled with her mental health since childhood. shaunajackie fallout was always going to be nuclear whether it happened in the woods or at college. if van and natalie weren't stuck in the woods they'd be stuck with their parents or what was left of them. and everybody knows misty was already who she is. they could have taken any route and they would have ended up at the destination of themselves anyway. say they didn't crash, say they won nationals. it doesn't matter. it doesn't fucking matter!!! fast forward twenty-five years and the class reunion plays out more or less the same. they win nationals and misty is still a nurse playing god and natalie is still in rehab or maybe not because who would be paying for it so scratch that they win nationals and natalie is still dead, and shaunajackie are still swallowing each other whole. they win nationals and nothing singularly or uniquely terrible happens to them and they still grow up to be wracked with anger and guilt anyway! they're still unsatisfied, cheating on their spouses. they're still suicidal, still schizophrenic. terrible things still happen to them but they're commonplace terrible, so who cares? get over it. all this to say the self is inescapable. all this to say this life fucks you up no matter what. there was no other way for them, there was no other fate for them. there is no ideal life where they are perfect and good. the crash isn't the tragedy. the tragedy is that they all are who they are. they are human. they win nationals, and they still have to be these people. they have to be these people, but alone. the tragedy is that they think they could have been fine if they hadn't done such terrible things to survive after the crash. but they were never fine, they were never going to be fine, and that IS fine because neither was anyone else. "we're all like this." we were always going to be. and I don't mean it's a good thing they crashed. I mean it's all a crash. there is no unscathed life.
shauna shipman is so tragic to me because like...the girl who you shared your very being with dies and each segment of you that holds her is slowly rotting away. You sit beside her corpse and while your guilt and malice and devotion can hold her form, it won't feed your hunger. So you eat her ear, because you will always be the first to consume her, then the other girls eat her too because nothing gets to be yours alone when it comes to her. But her flesh feeds your baby, and when you give birth, she becomes part of him too. Then he dies too, and you bury him in the snow, so he can be yours alone, so he can know the cold like Jackie did. And then your rescued, and you latch onto anything that remains of her. Her favorite flower covers your walls, you see her parents every week, her boyfriend is yours and your daughter is her. And then you realise, they can be taken too. So you isolate yourself, let that severing wound she left become necrotic, because you've tried healing it with others, but it just takes them too. Then you meet a guy. He's funny and makes you feel young, and he's devoted to you the way she was. And that rotting wound begins to seal up. But you grow suspicious, and those months of fear fog your mind, and your scared, so you do what you know best. You bite. And now he's dead. And the wound is open again.

Do you know anything i can donate to for palestine that's not the gofundmes because the idea of having to choose who needs my money more is just. scary to me they all need it 3: maybe there's a thing that splits/distributes money evenly???? idk but help would be appreciated
Gazafunds actually deals with this anxiety and makes a decision for you if you want. Their home page has a spotlighted fundraiser and the code consider things like how close the gfm is to finishing, when the most recent donation is, etc. So it's randomized to help as many people as possible.
There's also @helpgazachildren which if you donate, you can help multiple people at once since it's a whole mutual aid fund, or at least close to it. Hussam distributes money to people who need it when he's asked.

The strugglerrrrrrr
on my hands and knees sobbing bc wolverine(s) constantly questioned his self worth and sense of belonging, has tried convincing everyone including himself that he’s a lone wolf when he’s a pack animal, considered himself nothing but a killer destined to die alone (if he even could), and thought of himself as an ugly unlovable thing just for deadpool 3 to be like ‘actually logan howlett is so important to the integrity of the xmcu that reality began to collapse in his absence’ and give the “worst” wolverine (aka a version who couldn’t save his friends and now lives in isolation) a home
