- person who watched me stomp round the beach singing a made up song about breakfast foods to name a cat after and suggested more breakfast foods that would be good cat names

- guy who started a dance off with everyone across the road while waiting for the lights to change

- very tiny girl at the pharmacy interviewing everyone in the queue and every single one of us in turn sat down and answered this toddler's questions like we were on Letterman

It's a frightening lack of respect for a group to go "hey this is our culture/religion/mythology? Please don't use that word" and apparently all the white people are like "but what if I did anyway to make my unity horror game 0.01% scarier?"

Just use a different word! Call it a deerman, deer god, forest spirit, whatever. Try to care at least a little when someone says not to use their culture for entertainment.

Here's a list of deer in mythology. If you have to have a mythology-based creature, you can go find one of these that's not THE ONE YOU'VE BEEN SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO USE.

Also worth mentioning that those deer-skulled monstrosities have literally nothing to do with the actual folklore. That version of the legend was popularized by a racist white author who changed the description of the spirit to be much more animalistic, mirroring the way he described Native people in his work as animal-like. It’s a bastardized caricature of the actual mythology, steeped in anti-indigenous racism and dehumanization. Stop calling those things w******s, they are not.

Especially about an autistic five year old if Twitter is right about how he shared that he works for a special needs kindergarten and specifically said he works with autistic kids.

Let this be a lesson btw to anyone that like. Posting identifying information on the Internet is a big no-no. If you wouldn't want someone to see it, like your boss, the person it's about, parents, etc etc, don't post it online. If it has a possibility of screwing over your life, don't post it. If someone online can see it and figure out stuff you wouldn't want online, DONT POST IT.

Dude could've just made a tweet explaining what was said, without posting the actual email and the literal words used. "Got punched by a student and my glasses got broke and his parent suggested we give him a calming banana. Nuts."

And then... Posting your literal firing email too is nuts. Just say "No I'm serious."

Yeah a calming banana sounds nuts, sure, but given that it's likely a five year old with special needs... It's not that nuts to be like "he's probably hungry after the bus ride therefore triggering him to act out. So we are packing a snack for him to have when he gets to school" that's not unreasonable and if the problem persists even with that issue, then that's when more measures are taken to deal with the issue, but if the kid starts chilling out after getting food, that's probably all it was.
