What’s writing, you know? What does writing actually mean?
“Surely I can make gay and trans people accepted in a royal fantasy setting :)”
*royal people’s obsession with fertility and lineage*
Hm. Well.
Based on the responses to this post, I’ve decided the BEST way about this is to simply give queer people in the text however many children I want with literally no explanation of why or how.
“Two dads? Is the kid adopted?”
“Two moms? Is one of them trans?”
“The Queen is trans but the kids resemble both parents? Were the children conceived magically?”
The answer is just mind your business and suspend your disbelief, how about.
Seriously, go. This fire isn’t for you.
I am a little sad that this is probably one of my prettiest illustrations and I can’t share it fully on Tumblr since it’s spicy. But here’s a preview! Please check the image out in its entirety on AO3. Its a story in itself. (No words today.)
Was Elrond in a gay marriage? We don’t know, because it’s none of our goddamn business. … No matter what Elrond got up to, it didn’t effect his ability to perform his job like a boss. And that is to provide travelers with great directions.

Thanks to Frankie for this heartwarming review of Mr Warren’s Profession!
~
“Lindsey could have whatever he wanted whenever he pleased. He’d probably already moved on to the next easy conquest. He would forget Aubrey within the week. Aubrey resolved to forget Lindsey first. But as much as he disliked the idea of being forgotten, he found he despised the prospect of forgetting Lindsey even more.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mr Warren’s Profession is the perfect queer book for lovers of the historic romance genre. Set in the 1800s, it follows the story of two men Lindsey and Aubrey, who meet at Audrey’s workplace after Lindsey wins said workplace in a card game.
Throughout the book, we watch the two men fall in love, while struggling to keep their romance alight with the danger of being caught, keeping up with each others very different lifestyles, and a sudden horrific accident that threatens to pull them apart.
Lindsey and Aubrey’s love for each other is absolutely beautiful. “My Lindsey”, “my Aubrey”. Reading them interact was always the highlight of this book for me. Their chemistry is so tender, and I hope that continues in the second book.
~
Mr Warren’s Profession is a gay Victorian cross-class romance, available now wherever fine books are found!
