RUDE AWAKENING

Piece I made last year (I think?). It was a blast! I wanted to go crazy with a chimera design, and make it really weird and o over the top aggressive looking, as a chimera should be. Then I had to paint it a couple of unfortunate snacks. Truly a breakfast in bed!

Also, I heard Tumblr doesn’t take kindly to NSFW material anymore, even if it’s not explicit at all like this. If it gets blocked I’ll put him in a thong or something.

You know that's not how the Sphinx is spelled?

The titular “Sphynx” in my story is a big hairless cat, like the actual breed of hairless cats, which is spelled with a “y”

The original story is written in spanish, and the spanish word for both the mythical animal and the cat is the same word, “Esfinge”.

I opted to make the distinction when translating to english, and name her after the breed of cat she’s modeled after, rather than the egiptian monster. Its still pronounced the same, so it preserves some of the original intent.

KABUTERIMON

Last year I also participated in a Digimon fanzine!

I remember when I was a wee little boy and I first watched Digimon on the TV after school. It made such a huge impact in me and my creativeness! 

When the kids were attacked by Kuwagamon (big red stag beetle monster) I thought it was the coolest monster design ever! Well, let me tell you, when I found out one of the good guys could turn into a rad ass alien-bug creature too,  it fucking blew my mind right off!

DEVILMAN

Devilman piece I did back when Devilman Crybaby came out on Netflix!

I think that show was very much a “you love it or you hate it” kinda deal. I personally really enjoyed it, and thought it was a very interesting take on the character and story, and the visuals were very striking.

I wish hers and Teostra’s armors were cooler tho. Didn’t really fight her in MH Freedom Unite that much for that reason, but at least she’s got some dope wepons in MH World!

Last year illustrations I did for the Lifeform Drawing Club on Instagram. The was was “Alien” or “Sci-fi”? I can’t remember. Something to that effect.

I actually did the one on the right  first, and later picked and changed the colors in PS to make the colored version on the left. Kind of a roundabout process I never repeated, but I was satisfied with the outcome.

Illustration/concept art I did of the main character of my comic project. It was the first design for Aela (girl) and the Sphynx (big cat mom) I was satisfied with.

UPDATE

So it’s been a while huh? I don’t remember when was the last time I used this website regularly. I think I dropped a couple of times back in to shamelessly promote my instagram or my twitter (@grimonomicon on both btw...) and that’s it.

I just couldn’t be arsed to manage more than one art sites, so I left Tumblr in favor of Instagram where I was growing faster. In time, Insta changed for the worse too, so I figured I'd come back here to give it another whirl. Maybe two bad websites combined would equal using a good one?. But I digress...

In the time I’ve been gone I kept drawing, I finished my college studies and graduated. For my last year in college I drew and wrote a +20 pages comic called Daughter of the Sphynx, a sword and sorcery story about a feral girl bred by a legendary beast, kicking ass in the desert. It’s been my greatest project to date where I sank the most time and effort yet. 

It is my very first finished comic, so I have mixed feelings about the end resut, but I learned a whole lot from it, and I’m confident my next will be much better.

 I’m planning on realeasing the whole thing online and translated soon for everyone to read.

I’ll be sharing what I’ve been doing since I left here on the coming weeks. For the people that started following me on my other sites it’ll be old news, but I’ll eventually catch up. I still like Tumblr as a digital portfolio kinda thing.
