This may be a dumb question, but I'm new to photoshop and I'm supposed to use it for showing perspective on pictures. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to do the lines like you did for your example pictures--which is exactly, what I'm expected to do. Can you help me please??
It’s not a dumb question. Um…here’s the lowdown, I guess. I wish I could get More in depth into it, but it’s late and I have work in the morning :S
AN EXAMPLE ON A PHOTO, since i’m guessing that’s what you’re using it for:
Now choose two of the boldest/most accurate/obvious lines from this picture to use as guide lines for your grid
Note: WHEN YOU DO THIS NEXT STEP, DO NOT PRESS ENTER OR EXIT OUT OF THE TRANSFORM UNLESS YOU HAVE TURNED THE LAYER INTO A SMART OBJECT OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT WILL SAVE THE WARP DATA–I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS. You don’t NEED to make it a smart object, I usually don’t, but if you want to, just right click the layer and say “convert to smart object”
Using the corners and the ctrl+shift skew effect, have them conform to the two guidelines you chose. DO NOT PRESS ENTER OR EXIT OUT OF THE TRANSFORM ETC ETC YOU SAW THE WARNING
Now, if you grab the transform points in the middle of each side, you can drag them around and the grid remains in the proper perspective while moving the orthoganals–it’s kinda cool
You can press enter once it’s spaced to your liking.
Here it is with both sides done.
I used to use this method all the time for my digital illustrations until I got manga studio and found their perspective tool. It’s the same sort of process though.
I hope it wasn’t too confusing…I’m so used to using photoshop these days I’m not sure of what’s too much ~_~
