Hi everyone! We really appreciate the support and enthusiasm we’ve received over the past few months. However, the mods feel that we don’t have enough interest to make this project plausible in the long term. Unfortunately that means that this zine won’t be continuing.

will contributors have to have a piece based on all books or could one be about, say, soc only?
Hi anon! In the zine itself, contributors would have free reign to create their piece, including if they want to focus on only one book or group of characters.

Hi anon! We’re postponing applications to this Saturday, June 6th, because we’re still waiting to hear back from the publisher as to what content is acceptable to print. We’re also considering moving this to a digital zine, in part so that writers can create longer pieces. Thank you for asking!

do the participants in this zine create ocs for the grishaverse, or do participants assume the personas of leigh bardugo's characters?
A: Contributors will be writing about or illustrating characters from any of the books set in the Grishaverse!
When do we start? :)
A: We’ll open applications on May 29th, close them on June 26th, and send out results on July 10th! You can see our full schedule [here]. We appreciate your enthusiasm!
Will the zine include "only" the Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows, or also the Nikolai Series? And is there a theme/limitations for the content (e.g. Whether Ships are allowed or not, whether AUs are allowed, etc), or is everything allowed as long as it's Grishaverse content?
A: Any series within the Grishaverse is allowed! We talked about potential limitations but came to the conclusion that we really really love where fans have taken the content (those sweet sweet wlw ships...) so all Grishaverse content is fair game -- AUs, ships (within reason, so no incest or adult/minor relationships), whatever you’re interested in!
May I know the specifics of the zine topic? Like, what participants are going to do if accepted and what their piece will be on.
A: We hope the answers to the previous questions are helpful! We’re still in the process of figuring out what we can and can’t do with regard to written content, but we’ll update ASAP when we have more details.
can you send out an email when apps are open?
A: Absolutely! For those interested, feel free to leave your email in the comments section of our interest check and we’ll send you an email when apps are open. You can also go ahead and mark your calendar for May 29th, which is when our applications will open!

Even if the project is non-profit, do you plan on providing contributors with at least a zine copy/full bundle if profits allow it? Compensating artist and writers is still important!
Hello anon, definitely! We believe that contributor compensation is incredibly important so, though there won’t be any money for them or a charity, money raised will go towards covering as much as we can for contributors as well. Depending on sales, this might only be production price (which is still much lower than sales price) but either way we plan on contributor compensation.
Hey, I know there's a tangle around the subject of selling fanfiction. Have you thought about opening up the zine to analysis/critique? As I understand it, fanfic is something of a legal gray area but commentary and criticism fall under fair use.

Isn’t it illegal to sell fanfiction, esp for published literature? I’m just worried the zine will get taken down or something
Hi anon! Thank you for your concern. We're working this out right now, as a previous Grishaverse zine has run into a similar problem and was asked to close pre-orders early. Our project is meant to be non-profit, where all money made in pre-orders goes directly into the cost of shipping and producing the zine and merchandise. We plan to check in with the publisher to see if this is okay, and if not we will transition to an art-only version of this project (potentially with comics!).
Please rest assured that we are considering all available options so that this project can move forward!
