                   ‘   king — nova.   ’    this royalty thing is all new to him,   and his head is a little woozy from the gas,   but if what darcy is saying is true then he has a king to thank and also to criticise.    kicking one of his own out to save the life of his girlfriend’s father is reckless,   there is no strategic advantage to hide it behind,   and it’s how a king quickly loses followers,   but he’s…    he’s grateful.    he wishes he wasn’t,   but that’s the survival instinct for you.

                    ‘   a moment,   if you will.    i believe we have some words to exchange.   ’   nate frowns as he looks at him,   but there’s no anger in is eyes as there was the previous time they met.    because there’s no denying that this king is part of his daughter’s life now:   he wants to be part of darcy’s,   so he has to be part of nova’s,   too.    this man took away his daughter and saved her all at the same time:    HE’S CONFLICTED.   /   @youngcst.

OCTAVIA:

        there’s a familiar sting in her eyes.   even talking about lincoln was hard.   she hated it.   she missed him so much,   her entire body aced when she thought about how life might be if he was still here.   or if they’d never met.   or if they’d have gone to luna’s rigging when they had first wanted to.   swallows thickly,   moving to rest her head upon his shoulder.   the only father like figure she’s had since bellamy.   “   maybe not.   but it’s too hard to talk about it.   too difficult.   especially when there’s more important things to worry about.   “

                      nathaniel sighs,   wrapping an arm around her shoulders as her head rests on his own.   ‘   your pain isn’t irrelevant,   octavia,   ’   deucalion murmurs,   keeping his gaze on her.   ‘   just because there are other things going on it doesn’t mean your pain doesn’t matter.   darcy was exactly the same.   ’   it still hurts to refer her to her in the PAST TENSE,   but he’s...   he has to get used to that.   ‘   you know i’ll always listen to you regardless of what else is going on.   ’

SAM:

                     the woman moves to grab another mug,   noting she’d put on some pants as soon as she was FINISHED.   but her attention is drawn to the man as he speaks again,   head nodding for a moment before she noted his hand outstretched towards her.   eyes lit up in hopes.   the woman would happily admit she had a drinking problem.  anyone with a brain would see that.   but recently her whiskey had run dry.    hesitantly,   the girl takes the packet and places it on the side,   not wanting to look desperate for it.   though,  she knows it’ll soon be unwrapped.    ❛     thank you.     ❜    she muses,  moving to kiss his cheek before passing to find some clothes.      ❛     you didn’t have to.     ❜

                    he didn’t have to,   she’s right  ---  probably shouldn’t have,   too.   but he’s seen how much working towards strengthening the ark has gotten her down recently,   and he hates to see it affect her in such a way;   she helped him when he needed it.   nathaniel just isn’t sure how to help other than this.   ‘   you’re welcome,   ’   he hums in response,   smiling hesitantly after the woman kisses his cheek.   it feels unfamiliar;   after losing annalieze,   he never really let himself get close to anyone else.   ‘   i thought it might cheer you up.   you haven’t seemed like yourself lately.   ’

                     CAPTAIN OF THE MARBLEGUARD,   nathaniel deucalion  ---  a mercenary company hired by politicians and charities and prestigious corporations.   he’s made a fortune for himself after setting it up shortly after the beginning of the first contact war,   the first majorly human mercenary company to make a name for itself in citadel space.   unlike ECLIPSE or BLUE SUNS,   the marbleguard has managed to keep its name clear of corruption,   and fortune from this is guaranteed  ---  which shows in the living conditions of his daughter.   she’s been raised in a privileged lifestyle,   but by no means was she spoilt.   he taught her manners and respect...   and he’d be offended at the fact that deucalion has been told nothing of a potential significant other if he didn’t recognise the face standing in front of him when the doors to darcy’s apartment hiss open.   considering that the other apparently has a keycard to darcy’s apartment,   he can only assume that his daughter is dating a celebrity.

                     clearing his throat,   nate’s eyebrows rise and his head tilts as he waits for the other to speak.   he’ll say nothing yet:   he’d been waiting for his daughter to come home,   thought a surprise visit would be a good idea,   but he’s not sure how he’s liking this turn of events just yet.   /   @allianceofficer.

OCTAVIA:

              she’s pouting.   she doesn’t want to talk about it.   “   i think the question should be what isn’t wrong.   “   rolls her eyes,   shrugging.   “   a little bit of everything,   i guess   ?   busy trying not to get killed,   trying to find da  –  trying to get over lincoln,   trying NOT to get yelled at by bellamy every fifteen seconds.   the usual.   “

                          deucalion’s head lowers as he listens,   exhaling softly.   he understands her stress:   considering their difference in age,   they share a lot of the same issues...   and deucalion would never wish the loss of a partner on anyone,   especially not anybody as young as octavia.   from the mere look of them he could tell they were each other’s world;   nate had somebody like that once too.   he makes his way over to her side,   sitting next to her as he keeps his gaze focused on his palms in his lap.   ‘   besides your brother irritating you  ---  fighting through this is all we can do.   this world has proven that to us,   but don’t think for a minute that you’re alone in this.   ’   he turns to face her then,   offering her a small smile.   ‘   we’ve both lost people close to us.   i didn’t have anyone to help me through that  ---  it’s not the same for you.   ’

OCTAVIA:

         a deep sigh.   “   i don’t think you’d like to talk to me about what i need to talk about.   “

                   ‘   octavia  ---  there is nothing i won’t talk to you about.   ’   there are;   there are things he wouldn’t even talk to his daughter about,   but he doesn’t think octavia is going to discuss those topics.   ‘   tell me what’s wrong.   ’

          ‘   you know you can talk to me whenever you need somebody,   yes?   you’re not alone in this.   ’

SAM:

                   she just looks at him for a moment,   continuing to ready her coffee with a WIDE SMIRK.   she was somewhat fond of nate.   she wasn’t sure if he was AWARE of her profession,  however,  and she knew that wasn’t going to be an interesting conversation.   so she allowed herself to be close,    to help him without being far too close.     more for his reputation than hers.    with a chuckle,   eyes look back to the mug in her hand,   head somewhat shaking.        ❛     you’re welcome to stay.    i’ll even put pants on if it puts you off that much.     ❜ 

                      her lack of clothing doesn’t put him off  ---  it’s the opposite,   in fact,   which is why it makes him uncomfortable.   ‘   if you wouldn’t mind.   ’   nate chuckles,   pressing his lips together as he tries to hide a smile.   he has always been traditional,   and he respects sam.   he wouldn’t do anything to give her the wrong idea.   ‘   i wasn’t sure if you would be in here or not.   here,   nonetheless...   ’   he holds out the packet in his hand,   gesturing for her to take it.

SAM:

                                 she doesn’t exactly expect anyone to WALK IN.    she’d found some beans that,   when crushed and dissolved,  imitated the taste of coffee rather well.   brewing her own special mix,   having little else to do with her day,   the woman stands in nothing but a shirt and her underwear.  not expecting anyone to need her,   or acknowledge her,  she sees very little wrong with it.   so on hearing the other’s feet clamber in,   she jumps a little,   but does not move to conceal herself.   she was FAR beyond that with most people.   they’d been through enough.    ❛     need something ??     ❜

                         it’s safe to say that sam and nate had become closer over the past few months.   ice nation were the cause of the loss of the thing  (  person  )  he loved the most in the universe,   and sam had seen what they could do first hand.   she understood,   and it helped,   and he’s not sure what he would have done without her.   and when he opens the door,   he doesn’t expect she’ll be in there  ---  hence the reason why he didn’t knock.   ‘   oh,   ’   nathaniel blurts out as soon as he sees her,   clearing his throat before he forces himself to look away.   ‘   i apologise.   i didn’t  ---  i came to drop this off for you.   ’   he managed to get some hard-to-come-by rations he knows she likes.

                        ‘   if you’re looking for my daughter,   she’s not here.   ’   she disappeared hours ago and he hasn’t seen her since.   he’s still getting used to it and all he wants to do is keep her close after only just getting her back,   but she seems a lot more...    independent now.   free spirited.   she isn’t as weighed down,   and it’s a relief.   he recognises the other,   though:   darcy pointed out two people specifically to him.   NOVA,   SIA.   ‘   you’re sia,   yes?   ’   /   @pakstoka.
