“Understanding the Relevance of Information Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”
In today’s modern society where it is easy to acquire an abundant amount of information accessed through different forms of media for instance, through books, magazines, news articles, radio, television, internet, social media, and the like. We are able to connect more with one another through the use of the internet and social media, thus, enabling a wide variety of data and information to travel and be acquired more quickly to the people and, furthermore, the authenticity of the information is a concern as it may further cause problems such as false or misleading information, deception to the readers, fake news, etc. In relevance of information literacy in the midst of the social era, by being information literate we are able to identify and recognize the need for information, determining the different sources of information, analyze and evaluate the quality of information, and use information in an ethical, efficient, and effective way to create value to individuals gathered around an idea and scales through social mechanisms such as trust, authenticity, and purpose.
Information literacy is essential for today's students because it encourages issue strategies and the ability to think critically such as asking questions and seeking answers, collecting information, making judgments, analyzing sources, and making choices, all of which help students become active learners, effective contributors, assured citizens, and responsible people. Kids and adolescents must not just be capable of reading for information; they must also be able to determine how much confidence they should place in that knowledge and recognize how and when individuals are trying to persuade or affect them. People must be able to recognize what is true and important not only in education, as well as in life and business. Information literacy has existed in various forms for a long time, and several national and international frameworks and definitions have indeed been developed. The rise in Internet usage is having an effect on the reduction in traditional media use.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”
Filipinos spend virtually all of their time in front of the television, especially in light of the present crisis. Different parts of Philippine media adapt to the interests of local audiences. Aspects of media include television stations, FM and AM radio stations, and newspapers. In terms of effectiveness, the media plays a significant part in assisting individuals. They inform the public and serve as the people's voice to the government. If we apply that concept to what is now taking place, the ideal illustration is the government's press conferences, where spokesman Harry Roque will answer questions from the media, inquiries that are either from the public or based on what they are experiencing. People regularly seek information from the government on issues affecting the Country and solutions to these concerns. In today's government, journalists who fail to do their jobs effectively and without bias are criticized and advised before being penalized.
The Love-Hate Relationship between Media and Government has a positive and negative impact on the community. In today’s generation, most people now rely on social media, especially those people who are politicians. Through the media, people can be updated on any situations that are happening and also information from the government. Humans are very active, the satisfying part is that people actively share information because people know it is right. Another thing is people can see directly what politicians do to sustain his or her followers or companions that are beneficial. It is accurate that the media and the government also have a hate relationship. Noticing in any sources that there are lots of wrong labeling about a person or an event, and people assume that it is true, and criticism occurs. Most of the time people accuse social media because of uploading some unreal or fake posts just to get attention from others. These posts will also be seen by the government, and the government will state their dialogues and spread it through social media. And thousands of opinions will appear and result in misunderstanding to all the people in the community.
"The Value of Being a Media and Information Literate Individual"
Nowadays, media is very crucial in our daily lives, especially for teenagers like myself who utilize social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms are examples. It allows us to obtain knowledge from what we see on social media, interact with people such as our family, relatives, and friends, but it can also be a source of pleasure. It also helps in keeping one aware of what is happening in the world today, as well as keeping one up to speed on news in our society or in one's immediate surroundings. Especially this pandemic we use social media to be updated. An information source with the ability to translate it through media. To become media literate, a person needs to be able to detect when information is required, discover, assess, and use that information successfully as a guide. Media and Information Literacy is about assisting us in becoming competent and critical thinkers in our field of information.
Having media and information literacy can help develop our skills in everything we do. Media and information literacy allow us to demonstrate and create information judgments as users of MIL. Media and information literacy also gives us a chance or freedom to show ourselves, to have a peaceful community, no one is up and no one is low, just equal. Being media and information literate is not just memorizing information but learning what is in that information. We should be able to know how things are worked or evaluate and recognize the important information. As users of MIL, we should be responsible, we should spread or find accurate information to avoid very negative issues. As students, we should take it seriously because it will help us gain more knowledge and also it will help us in our future especially in work. If we are being literate we can be more advantageous to others because in life we need to learn something new and improve something new. Maybe without knowing that being literate about media information, there is a best that is hidden.
