Alexa: I can't do anything right. The other day I fell and landed weird, like on my side. I can't even fall correctly-- and gravity is doing most of the work for me.

My Coworker: I'm just going to go get some fine wine and tacos from the gas station.

Alexa on the Capitalistic Plan...

While shopping for Christmas Presents....

Alexa: The problem with shopping for other people, is that I want to buy myself presents. And I do. Every time. 

Me: I know-- I bought myself earrings when I bought my mom a ring. Then I bought myself a shirt when I bought my brother two shirts. 

Alexa: It's all part of the capitalistic plan to promote more spending! They're winning!

While gchatting about how hard it is to get a new job, and the news comes on...

Alexa: Of course the news is reporting on a suicide. Whenever I feel down, there will be a story about killing yourself on the news-- it's like clockwork! I don't know if it's the Universe's way of saying, "It could be worse," or if it's like, "Take a hint, lady!"

My Therapist on Life Changes

While talking about leaving a job I was really unhappy at...

My Therapist: There's a saying, "When half Gods leave, the whole Gods show up." When I was younger I never knew what it meant. But it's very powerful-- it means when a bad, half-assed opportunity ends, there is room for the great opportunities to arise.

Me: Yeah, my boss was very difficult. I think he didn't like that I was a woman who would stand up for myself. He was really put off that a woman was like, "I don't agree with that."

Grandma Grace: You'll find a lot of men like that in the workplace-- it's full of them. They all think they're little Gods.
