Warding using Energy Work
Recently, I’ve come to the conclusion that not only have I been using energy work for a while, but I’m actually not that terrible at it! To test this theory, I decided to create a ward, after doing some research and practicing some energy work techniques.
But first, I should talk a bit about what warding is, for those who are unfamiliar or need a refresher.
A ward, to put it simply, is a hardcore protection spell. It is meant to protect 2 things simultaneously: you(or other living things in your space), and a space(ie your room, your home, your workspace, etc). Wards are more permanent forms of protection, and they are meant to be a bit more stationary(though parts of it can move with you, which will be discussed later on). They are different from protection circles, which are meant to protect you for a short period of time, and are different from shields, which protect mainly you and are meant to be more fluid.
Well, why not? Many witches that ward do it to protect themselves from those that wish them harm. They are very good at keeping bad energy out(especially if you are being cursed/psychically attacked), and are also good at deflecting those energies. They’re also good at creating “safe spaces”, if you will. Basically, in terms of energy, what you want in there stays in, and what you want out of there stays out.
Great! How do I do it(specifically with Energy Work)?
Well, there’s a lot of steps, and a lot of things to keep in mind, so I will try to condense it the best I can.
This seems like a no-brainer, and it is. However, the usual cleansing ritual you do may not work as well as you’d like for it to in this case. I’d advise you do a bit more of an intense cleanse to ensure that nothing you want stuck in your ward gets stuck in there.
2. Decide your energy sources
For wards, it is unwise to create one using your energy alone. Technically, you could, but a) your wards may not not be as strong as you’d like, and b) you could overuse your energy and burnout. To avoid this, it is best you use an energy source to help you out. For the best results, use only one or two energy sources, but if you feel comfortable enough you can use more.
Examples of some energy sources:
Deities/spirits you work with
The elements(earth, water, air, fire)
Another witch in your household
3. Set up some boundaries
In my opinion, this is the most important part. Creating rules for your ward will ensure it works in the way you want it to. For this, write down the boundaries for your ward, being as specific and a detailed as possible.
For the sake of security, I will not share the boundaries for my ward. However, here are some prompts, should you be stuck on what to write:
Where is the location of your ward?
Does the ward protect you, and only you? Does it protect other people/living things within the house?
What does the ward protect against? How does it protect?
What does the ward do if an unwanted energy/entity forces its way in? What happens to the ward if this happens?
[If working with deities/spirits/other witches], what can they do to the ward? Can they manipulate the rules? Are they allowed into the ward?
Does someone need specific permission to enter the ward? If so, who needs the permission? How is this given?
Is the ward strictly solitary? Can part of it move along with you?
How long does the ward last? How can the ward be destroyed/deactivated?
Now that you’ve got your energy sources and your boundaries set, it’s time to start setting up the ward! But first, you need to channel the energy from your energy source, basically asking them permission for you to use their energy in this spell. For those who are unsure if they’ve received consent, you will most likely feel a different energy/vibration as an indicator.
5. Manipulate your energy
Next, set everything up the way you want/need to, then sit(preferably) in the middle of your space/building. Begin to gather the energy from yourself and your energy sources, in however way works best for you. Keep growing and building this energy mass until you’ve got a lot of it.
Once you’ve got your mass of energy, begin to push it out away from you, again, in any way you see fit. You can grab parts of the energy and “paint” it onto different corners or walls. You can keep expanding it until it fills your space. You can literally push the energy into the corners of the space. However you choose to manipulate the energy to fill your space is completely up to you.
This is optional, but you can also install energy into the list of boundaries you wrote down, just so you are certain the rules will bestow themselves into the ward.
Before you call it good, make sure everything feels right. The air around you should feel dense and thick, but not suffocating. The best way to describe it is like being wrapped tightly in a soft, warm blanket. If you don’t feel that(or only a little bit), your ward may be too thin, and you’ll need to create more energy. If it feels too much, your ward may be too thick, and you’ll need to take some of the energy back. If you feel any holes in the ward(maybe you forgot the ceiling, or a certain corner), fill them in now.
Once you feel ready, feel free to close everything down. Thank those that helped you, go get water or a snack, and recharge your batteries. You’ve earned it!
I hope this is helpful for some of you. Until then, happy witchcrafting!
