New to the collection 💄
Just received my first Influenster voxbox! I was sent (for free) a personalized skin care routine. Will post a full review soon.
Review: L’Oreal Hydra-Total 5 Ultra Even Routine
I have been testing out my first Influenster VoxBox for a couple of weeks now and it is finally time for a review!
Step 1: Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Even Scrub
This is a great scrub for exfoliating. I use it a couple of times a week and find that it exfoliates but it also very gentle. It turns foamy when applied to the face so I think that is why it feels so gentle. It smells very fruity.
Step 2: Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Even Toner
This was probably my least favourite product of the whole routine mainly because it smells like alcohol. It also has a fruity smell like the scrub but the alcohol just over powers it. I like that this one has Salicyclic Acid in it because I am acne prone. I prefer a more gentle toner.
Step 3:
AM: Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Even Lotion
I wasn’t crazy about this one at first, but the more I use it the more I like it. My skin has been really dry lately and this lotion is really moisturizing. It also has SPF in it, which I love. It is slightly illuminating but nothing over the top. It smells nice and does not feel greasy. I do have to make sure I give it time to sink in before applying my makeup or it flakes off under foundation. It is oil-free too, which is good for my oily skin.
PM: Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Even Moisturizer
I was told to use this at night, although it could be used in the morning as well. This one is thicker than the lotion, but feels really nice. The only thing I don't like is that I have to apply a lot to cover my whole face, because it is so thick. I don't think I would use this under makeup, because its so thick, but for night it feels really nice.
Overall, I really like this line. I have noticed that my dark spots are starting to fade. I have oily/combination skin and this line is great.. it is moisturizing but not over the top. I am so glad I got to participate in this voxbox!
All products mentioned were sent to me for free for testing purposes.
Don’t forget to use ebates for extra cash back when online shopping! All of the savings add up quickly.
Also trying out the new Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation and Dream Blender. Full review will be posted soon. This was sent to me for reviewing purposes by Chick Advisor.

If you dropped out of school for your mental health & are taking some time out before going back, that’s okay.
If you dropped out of school for your mental health & are having to seek other ways of getting qualifications, that’s okay.
If you dropped out of school for your mental health & may never be able to go any further in your education, that’s okay.
You’re worth more than an exam result. You are not lesser for prioritising your well-being. And to the mentally ill people for whom dropping out isn’t an option, I’m proud of you for making it so far.
Don’t get mad. Don’t get even. Do better. Much better. Rise above. Become so engulfed in your own success that you forget it ever happened.

any tips on how to clear up acne? my skin is super super broken out 24/7
General Tips:
Wash your sheets at least once a month
I rotate pillows & sides every week.
Don’t touch your face.
If you want to, wash your hands or at least use hand sanitizer first! Our hands get dirtier than you think during the day.
Wash your hair or look at your hair care products in general.
Sometimes 3-4 day hair has more build up.
I find that some hair care (and body care) can lead to break outs along my hair line or back!
Wash your face 2 times a day.
I recommend: 1x in the morning, 2x a night (if you don’t use a makeup remover like a cleansing oil).
If you only wash your face once at night you’re only removing your makeup, not cleansing your skin!
Try a Clarisonic.
This is just an extra helping step to removing more makeup when you’re washing your face.
Don’t wear makeup for more that 12+ hours.
Try your best to not wear makeup to bed! (even if you just remove the makeup and don’t wash your face. that’s better than sleeping in it)
Clay face masks 1x a week.
These can be helpful at gentle exfoliating and “pulling” things to the surface.
Know your skin type!
It will help when finding products.
Do not pick, squeeze, pop, etc your acne!
The risk: popping the sac of puss under the skin (leading to more break outs or an infection) or squeezing the puss onto your skin allowing it to be absorbed and cause more break out.
Get a facial!
Some places offer quick 30 mins facials at a decent rate! Getting a facial 1x a week, every other week, or once a month (whatever you can afford) can really help.
A facial is more in-depth cleaning of the skin than at home. You’ll have a professional too. The esthetician can recommend products, clear up blackheads (safely), help you understand whats causing it, etc…
Know what’s causing your acne.
You can google acne face map. It can show you (generally) what is causing your acne. Is it your lungs (are you about to get a cold), your kidneys (have you been drinking less water and more soda recently), your hormones (with hormones a dermatologist is best because you can’t balance your hormones at home), etc…
A DERMATOLOGIST!
They know more than anyone how to help you with acne. They can suggest products, medication, an esthetician, what to do at home, etc… It’s their job to help you with their skin!
Product Tips:
Ingredients to know: Here are a few ingredients to look for that can help clear up breakouts. *note most will dry out your skin, especially if you already have dry skin. Use a good moisturizer!*
AHAs (glycolic acid)
Benzoyl Peroxide
Tea Tree
BHAs (Salicylic Acid)
Not all products are created equal!!!!
For something to help it has to remain on the skin for at least a couple of minutes (to be absorbed). Face washes with those ingredients don’t really have a major affect, neither does an exfoliant (if it’s physical).
Look for leave on exfoliants like Paula’s Choice Liquid BHA, enzyme exfoliants, chemical exfoliants, or chemical peels (i always recommend by a professional because they will penetrate deeper, have better results, and there is no risk of burning/ruining your skin)
Moisturizers now contain helpful ingredients, remember you HAVE to wear SPF with the ingredients listed above.
Serums can also help.
Not all ingredients work on everyone.
Some people can use all forms, others only 1-2. It’s important to know what type of ingredient is in your products. For example Paula’s Choice offers liquid BHA and AHA, while something like Proactiv has both types (leading to many people being irritated).
Don’t use it if it irritates your skin.
What percentage is the active ingredients? Maybe you just need a lower dosage. Or maybe it reacts with your skin in general.
Use calming products along with your acne/breakout/pimple products.
A lot of products can cause inflammation or you could have sensitive skin. The redness can make your issue seem larger than it really is.
Acne is inflammatory so products that cause inflammation make acne worse!
Look for products with chamomile for example and avoid products with alcohol (especially in toners).
Spot Treat
There is no reason to completely dry out your entire face. if you get something like a benzoyl peroxide gel, use it where it’s needed only.
BzzAgent Review: CoverGirl LashBlast Campaign
Hi everyone!! This was my second BzzAgent campaign (and I am currently testing out another product for them as well!). I have been really impressed with BzzAgent. BzzAgent is a site that sends you free products for you to test out and review. This has been my 3rd campaign in about 5 months. I have been a part of Influenster for over a year and a half, and have never received one campaign (pretty disappointing!). If you are Canadian and want to try out BzzAgent I would highly recommend it! I’m not sure if they have campaigns in other countries.
Anyway, back to this review. I received an e-mail from BzzAgent saying that I could choose 1 Covergirl mascara out of 4 from their LashBlast line to try for free (plus lots of coupons to hand out to friends and family!). I chose the LashBlast Fusion mascara (purple packaging), because it was the only one that claimed to be lengthening. I was already using the Clump Crusher. I do like the CoverGirl wands in general; they are plastic type wands and usually spiky. Although I do like the LashBlast Fusion formula, I think that the wand is way too big. It is too big to get my inner lashes or my bottom lashes. The formula itself hasn’t clumped on me at all, but I wish it was a more lengthening. My lashes look good, but I know they could look better. I usually apply about 2 coats before I am happy with them. This mascara hasn’t flaked on me yet, and for a drugstore mascara I am happy with it. That being said I prefer the ClumpCrusher, because the wand is a bit smaller.
I received the CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion from BzzAgent for free for testing purposes.

What do you guys think about buying products that are endorsed by YouTube "gurus"? After the whole Limecrime scandal I am hesitant to trust them.. I remember wanting to order from Limecrime, but a simple Google search gave me a lot of information about people having problems with them. I know a lot of YouTube beauty gurus are not talking about them anymore, but don't you think if they also did a simple Google search they would have found the same information as I did? Do you think that they are actually doing their research on brands that they are talking about?
