She wasn’t very good at telling time. As hard as she’d tried to keep track, it hadn’t taken long for Connie to get lost in her own mind, as the minutes slipped by. Hopes and worries alike clouded whatever grip she’d had on the time passing - but, regardless, she waited, as she’d said that she would. Even if he didn’t return, as she partially expected would happen, she was determined to at least give Ash the benefit of the doubt.
She hadn’t entirely noticed the chill that had set within the house, as she sat, wishing there was a window she could draw on to, or something-
The door slammed open, earning a terrified shout from Connie. She jumped to her feet, ready to run, only to find-
“ Ash ! ” a relieved smile broke on her face, although it was quickly replaced by a face of concern, “ Is somethin’ wrong ? Are you okay ? ”
𝐈t’s like his mind swam back to his senses, struggling in troubled water, but making it to find her be alright still in that safe room. He’d shouted and she screamed, and if Ash didn’t know better he’d say that he’s paranoid, going insane. The truth’s more horrifying, there was something there hiding in the next corner or behind another door.
“I’m alright.” He said, finally, after too many seconds of a dazed stare pointed at the girl, all while the door stopped swinging from the force he’d thrown at it. “We gotta get outta here though.”
Ash had that loaded rifle on him, that stump made of his right he was getting better used to; so, without much of a hand to hold out for the gesture.
Still, his eyes’d gone back from crazy to confident. “Stick with me, no matter what.” And his shoulder ached, pounded from slamming it, anyway, he took a deep breath. “Got that?”
