hmmm. customer was asking me if id been to any protests lately. gave the general “how could i when im always at work” response. he keeps going asking about where protests are being held/how he’s having trouble locating them and “it’s been hundreds of years coming so im not suprised”. he buys a lotto ticket and opens his wallet, which surprise surprise also contained a police badge..

If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It’s known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you’re too close, you’ll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.

and when you run, don’t run away in the direction it’s facing. run to the left or right instead- these things are directional so they’re most dangerous if you’re in front of it, you’ll be able to reach safety much more quickly if you run to the side instead

also, the one on the left looks to be an LRAD 500X and the one on the right is an LRAD 100X. the human threshold of pain is 120 dB; both of these devices are capable of producing levels higher than that. i’d say if you find yourself within 50 meters (~160 ft) of one of these, get out of there immediately. you don’t want to have one of these facing you no matter how far away you are, but that’s the range where you’ll risk nearly instant damage to your hearing

it's easy to say what happened to George Floyd and the consequences of it as just "oh another disaster for 2020". it's easy to brush it off as 2020 rearing its head again.

but this isn't just 2020. this is last year. and the year before. it's the last century. and next year. next month. don't become complacent and brush it off. don't let this become just another horrible thing that happened in 2020. it shouldn't be forgotten. because this is every day for black people. every year.

let this radicalize you. let this be the final year this kind of thing happens. don't let it become another 2020 disaster. don't let things go back to how it was. we must stop treating this as another thing that happened in 2020. do not let this become the forgotten year and don't allow George Floyd and his voice and countless black voices behind this to be forgotten - just another terrible thing. this isn't just 2020. this is something that happens all the time. don't let this go away.
