So I finished Ninety One Whiskey by komodobits and I want to write 100 loveletters to this story. Almost half a million words and I dreaded the last few pages because I just didn’t want it to end. What a wonderful story, what a talent, what a masterpiece, and it hasn’t left my mind once since starting it.
I had to emotionally digest everything by creating a bunch of fanart with some of the scenes that got seared into my mind - vividly and probably forever.
All of it is spoiler-y to the story, so please be aware!
"Try the food, though." bonus:
“Who’s the big spoon?”
The day we burried you
was a day of cold, raw silence.
I will always remember exactly what I was doing
when mom called home from the hospital.
Fourteen years have passed and gone,
but I still recall every detail of that day:
How we cleaned the house the night before,
How my mom's voice sounded on the phone,
Daddy's stunned response,
Grandma's tearful reaction when I went to wake her up.
I remember the song I listened to after,
The melted candles that burnt my fingers,
The smell of incense in the air,
The white flowers wilting in the heat,
Your initials etched onto the casket.
The exact moment they brought you back home,
I was standing at the top of the stairs.
Watching as they carried you.
You looked different,
strange.
The crying,
The weeping.
How I never got to tell you goodbye.

By his own hand
It burned.

“And I get it. I get why you were so scared of us now. Because – shit. Because you lost Wallace and it gutted you and I thought I figured out why and that felt like metal in my throat, and I realized I couldn’t drop you if I wanted to, ‘cause you were saying you didn’t even know what love feels like and I was just thinking, you idiot, you asshole, it feels like this. - D.W”

honestly steve harrington's character growth from homophobic prom king who's friends are complete assholes and only really cares about himself with a crush on the most perfect girl at school to bisexual single mother of six who's best friend is a lesbian and crush is the metalhead d&d-obsessed school freak who's gotten held back twice and been accused of murder once is not just one of the greatest things to ever come from tv, it is also one of the most absolutely hilarious.
