Screw anon! :D I miss the fic and the gifs and the talk and the fic. Okay so right now for the next little bit anyone who drops and Abe/Henry prompt in my ask box I'll write you a 500 word ficlet. Just no angst today is all I ask. :D

I really miss all of the content and discussion, too.  My main bb that came into this fandom with me has mostly moved on and I know that A LOT of people grew discouraged by the lack of feedback.  I saw more than one post about it.  The kink meme had a great start, but unfortunately, some unkind folks ran off authors by complaining about what they received.

I am hoping that with this new book, it'll bring some new creators and the ungrateful folks I saw giving our fandom a bad name will have moved.

I had been wondering that myself.  I kind of liked the first book's set up, even though it didn't start the way I had expected it to.  I did feel like it was an 'accessible' way for us to get into the story.  With this second book, I wonder if that writer from upstate New York will receive a second visit from Henry.

I admit that I would like something from Henry's POV for sure, but I don't know if I'll be particularly disappointed if Seth goes the way of the first book or if it's a straight narrative all the way through.

I can only wish for Henry to narrate at least part of the second book.  I'd give just about anything to hear inside of Henry's head.  He's so damned fascinating.

Ditto.  I want to see the bit where they drag KKK members into their own fires.  I also want them to show MLK's speech and them watching it together. 

I am going into this new book with so much hope, but I'm afraid that we won't see stuff from the epilogue written out.  However, I am hopeful that Seth with surprise and delight us with other tales.  I read the first book over and over and it's always a good read.  I'm just hoping that the Abery interaction bits will be as careworn in this new book, too.

It gives me comfort to know that Abe and Henry are friend through WWII and the civil rights movement. Because of the epilog so I have high hopes for crazy hijinks in this book.

Well, the first book did tell us that they were fighting together during those times.  What I hope is to see some canon fiction from the different eras.

And lord, that Tesla reference.  Seth better not break my heart, otherwise it's going to be fix-it fic all of next year from me.  I have already set my latest OT3 up and don't need any foolishness breaking my pairing apart.  I have enough of that in my life.  lol

I wish Seth was a better character writer. He obviously has great ideas (that's why we're all here, yeah?), but I think Henry and Abe are written inconsistently, which it makes it harder to get them right in fanfic without dipping totally into fanon.

I'm curious.  Which parts do you find to be inconsistent?  I'm thinking back on the book and I feel like most of it was level.  The bits where Henry seemed to flip out where when he and Abe had the fight to end all fights was jarring.  I took that to mean that they had just bottled up too much and it went sideways.  Please tell me more.

I hope the new book, whatever it is, sparks more interest in the ALVH fandom! Right now the lack of regular activity can be discouraging. (And speaking of the new book... do we know anything about it beyond that it involves Henry and possibly Tesla?)

ANON!!!!  YOU MUST TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS NEW BOOK, BECAUSE I DID A SMALL GOOGLE SEARCH AND ONLY FOUND STUFF ABOUT THE MOVIE AND THE FIRST BOOK.

I am hoping that more folks show up, too.  But mostly, I’m looking forward to Nikola Tesla.  I’m already set to ship Tesla with Henry and then Tesla/Henry/Abraham.

I miss all the discussions in the fandom and the different perspectives people brought to it. But fall out of love with Abery? Pah! Once an OTP, always an OTP. Even if they drift to the back of your mind, they will resurface one day.

I miss all of the cool discussions, too.  I started to feel like I was the only one still shipping Abery, so that made me want to start the Monthly Challenge to try and generate more content. 

But even if it ends up being only me and you, we can still cruise around in our Abery rowboat like:

I don't ship Abery except as a BroOTP. They're pretty well established in cannon as straight men both in the books and the movie and I just can't go against cannon in that respect. I get a little tired of how nasty some of the shippers can get if you don't agree with Abrey or Hadam - the only ones worse are the Destial shippers from the Supernatural fandom. I've seen those people send non Destial shippers death threats. Makes one not want to be a fan.

Well, first things first.  I think that canon and real life can definitely be interpreted different ways.  History does show that Abe shared beds with men.  History does also show that some men shared beds during that period of time, due to lack of beds and whatnot.  As for Henry, I take it directly from him that he did all sorts of sexual stuff and I personally take that to mean that he got around.

However!  I don’t fault anyone for not seeing things the way that I do..  If there are any Abery/Hadam fans that are giving you crap for your shipping preferences, ditch them.  I honestly don’t want our fandom and our pairing to gain a reputation for not respecting other people’s ships, you know?  I am sorry to hear that you had to deal with that.

As for SPN, that’s a whole different level of bananas that I don’t think that a small fandom like ours will ever have to face, thankfully.

i love the mental image of Abe and Henry just happening to be part of major historical events without intending to be, and like 99 per cent of the time, it's Abe's fault.

Praise!  I love when something I love is interwoven into the ‘facts’ of history, too.
