Hiya, I'm Misha. All poems I post here are my own (spawned from the nightmare that is my psyche). Most of them will be based on books I read but some are completely my own brainbabies. Feedback is appreciated.
I’ve been thinking a lot about all the stories that Brandon wants to write someday. So I decide to make a list. And not just a little list, a list where you can see each individual story he wants to write, has written, or is absolutely going to write. That way everyone can get a feel for just how big this whole Cosmere thing is supposed to be. Though we’ll ignore the fact that he probably won’t get to write it all. I’ve put the list under the keep reading thingy, because it does take up quite a bit of space. Especially since I’m adding descriptions and for some of these, because their existence can be pretty obscure fandom knowledge. I’ll provide some WoBs if people want to see Brandon talk about any of the stories directly
CaptainObvious0927: The really question is, given the death of Rayse, is Honor really dead? Or is his essence out there, still available to be claimed?

’aight so, I’ve got some thoughts on the TLM summary, here they are:

“For years, frontier lawman turned big-city senator”
- maybe this is already known and I’m just being dumb, but does this mean that there’s going to be a somewhat significant timeskip between three and four? I’m pretty sure that the first three take place across 1 or 2 years, so maybe it’s just referring to that, but this has me curious.
- I also noticed that Wax is referred to as a senator, not any sort of constable. Does this mean that he stepped back from action after book three? I feel like some of the lines from BOM were foreshadowing that, like ”he was a new person for what seemed like the hundredth time in his life and this was a new age. This was no longer an era of quiet mansions and smoking-room conversations; it was an era of bold skyscrapers and vibrant downtown politics“ (BOM epilogue)
“When Detective Marasi Colms and her partner Wayne“
- wait, does this mean that Wayne has joined the constabulary? I’m sure that lead to some interesting conversations. also it seems Marasi has been promoted to detective, I believe she was previously an officer.
“find stockpiled weapons bound for the Outer City of Bilming”
- It doesn’t seem like Bilming is on any of the maps in the books, I think this means that its probably not very influential on Elendel politics, in addition to being far out.
“and their tendrils now reach to the Elendel Senate—whose corruption Wax and Steris have sought to expose—and Bilming is even more entangled.”
- yep, it seems like Wax and Steris are focusing more on politics now.
“After Wax discovers a new type of explosive that can unleash unprecedented destruction”
- new type of explosive… hm… I wonder if it’s some type of weapon from our world, or something using the metallic arts, or maybe something from off world. perhaps something involving anti-investiture from Roshar? I kinda doubt that one though, as I’m not sure if that stuff can travel through the cognitive realm.
“Harmony’s power is blocked in Bilming. That means the city has fallen under the influence of another god: Trell, worshipped by the Set.”
- so does this mean that Trell or the set directly blocked Harmony’s power, or that Harmony’s power was blocked by something else, and that Trell and the set took the opportunity? I think the first option indicates that Trell is capable of overriding what Harmony is doing to keep it out, which is interesting.
“Marasi is recruited by offworlders with strange abilities who claim their goal is to protect Scadrial…at any cost.”
- this is a line that I’m really focusing on, because it has a lot of implication for the greater Cosmere. As far as we know there are four groups groups of worldhoppers in the Cosmere. These are the seventeenth shard, silverlight–which is closely related to the seventeenth shard, the Ire, and the ghostbloods. I say group, because the lines above indicate that these are multiple people with a clear goal in mind, rather than a couple vaguely related individuals. we can probably eliminate silverlight and the seventeenth shard, as they’re pretty non-interventionist, from what we know, and there’s also that line from Khriss in BOM, something about how she didn’t care about Scadrial‘s “local politics”
- The Ire are also a possibility, but I kinda doubt they care that much about Scadrial. My guess is the only reason they would care that much is that there’s something they want on the planet. This thought reminded me if this wob:

-So I guess that, if the offworlders mentioned here are the Ire, then they might be using Marasi to get something from Scadrial.
-and of course, there is the more likely possibility that the offworlders are the ghostbloods. the fact that the people mentioned are from offworld threw me off from this theory initially, but now I’m thinking that Marasi might just be meeting with Kelsier’s non-scadrian employees. I also wonder why he would have non-scadrians recruit Marasi, rather than people she’s more familiar with. I’m going to guess that, if we are assuming these offworlders are ghostbloods, whatever Kelsier is up to he needs invested arts from other planets to do it. the reason why I say the ghostbloods are the more likely possibility is because of the whole “protect scadrial at any cost“ thing
-there’s also the possibility that any one of the groups I mentioned above have factions that don’t operate the same as the rest of their group, or that it’s a group of worldhoppers we don’t know about yet, or that I was completly off in my guess that its an organized group that recruits Marasi, but at that point its solely speculation.
“Harmony’s vision of future possibilities comes to an abrupt halt tomorrow night with only blackness after that. It’s a race against time“
- I think this might imply that the book takes place in a relatively short amount of time?
- Also what could be disrupting Sazed’s access to fortune and the spiritual realm. Now I’m really curious what Trell’s up to.
“Wax must choose whether to set aside his rocky relationship with God“
There’s no theory or speculation here, I just love this sentence.
“and once again become the Sword that Harmony has groomed him to be.”
this supports my earlier guess about Wax stepping away from action after BOM

I wonder if the term “ruin“ is used on purpose. knowing the cosmere books, it probably is. This makes me wonder who exactly is doing the ruining though. My initial thought was Trell, but know I’m thinking that it might be the Ruin-part of Harmony. We know from the ROW(I think it was row?) epigraphs that the inclinations of Ruin and Preservation have an affect on Sazed, perhaps this has something to do with his power being blocked in Bilming?
anyway, if you managed to make it through my rambles then I applaud your patience.
I think I finally understand what Tehlu did in that damn story.
When Kvothe starts telling his story. he starts with a misdirect and starts talking about all of creation in a big bang sense of things of how their version of god created himself.
later you find out about Tehlu becoming the son of himself. and Kvothe built up his name through the stories that he created. so when they say Tehlu and all his angels and people pray in Tehlu's name. and through Dena's theme of trying to change her name. and Lanrae becoming immortal by his wife calling his name back from the doors of death...
Kinda sound like something a Shaper would do. as for the wings. kinda sounds like when Namers shape their rings.
what if Tehlu did the same. and took on the name of a god. in the way that Kvothe built up infamy through gossip Tehlu could have built up his divinity through deeds. and one of them is in the pursuit of Haliax aka Lanrae after the fall of the seven cities.
Then the fire settled on their foreheads like silver stars and they became at once righteous and wise and terrible to behold.
songs of power make me think of a quote or misquote in the series is " to know the name of a thing is to have power over it. " or something similar is said by one of the masters at the university. but Fulurian says something along the lines of that's not true mastery being given.
let me show in the instance of this in wise man's fear.
" Her smile was fierce and full. She was as lovely as the moon. Her power hung about her like a
mantle. It shook the air. It spread behind her like a pair of vast and unseen wings.
Close enough to touch, I felt her power thrumming in the air. Desire rose around me like the sea in storm.
She raised her hand. She touched my chest. I shook.
She met my eyes, and in the twilight written there, I saw again the four clear lines of song.
I sang them out. They burst from me like birds into the open air.
Suddenly my mind was clear again. I drew a breath and held her eyes in mine. I sang again, and this time I was full of rage. I shouted out the four hard notes of song. I sang them tight and white and hard as iron. And at the sound of them, I felt her power shake then shatter, leaving nothing in the empty air but ache and anger. "
Kvothe didn't gain mastery over her he just broke the power of her name for a time.
a reference to a silver fire.
" I spoke a name. I moved my hands and wove my breath gossamer-thin. It billowed out, engulfing her, then burst into a silver flame that trapped her tight inside its changing name. "
and though not a silver star. a notable reference is made in the same passage in the same fight with Felurian.
"I saw myself reflected in her eyes, naked among the cushions.
My power rode like a white star on my brow.
Then I began to feel a fading. A forgetting. I realized the name of the wind no longer filled my mouth, and when I looked around I saw nothing but empty air. "
this could also explain the drastic change in religion that happened in the 4 corners. and why the Priest didn't like the stories that Skarpi was telling.
that also explains the story that Trapis tells. because of Trapis' faith.
Patrick Rothfuss, who explained on his blog that Trapis is actually a disciple of a schism of Tehlinism referred to as the Mender Heresies. This belief states that Tehlu became human in the form of Menda.
but I'm thinking Menda became an Angel in the form of Tehlu. what if becoming one of Tehlu's angels is the highest form of naming?
we know that after Kvothe is beaten and laying in the snow he imagines death visiting him with wings of fire and shadow. thinking of how offended Kvothe was when chronicler implied that rumors say Kvothe became one of the seven. how wild would it be if Kvothe became one of Tehlu's angels?
I mean look how he starts his own story. " In the beginning, as far as I know, the world was spun out of the nameless void by Aleph, who gave everything a name. Or, depending on the version of the tale, found the names all things already possessed.”
Chronicler let slip a small laugh, "
now if we go a little further you get this boast.
" Kvothe continued, smiling himself. “I see you laugh. Very well, for simplicity’s sake, let us assume I am the center of creation. In doing this, let us pass over innumerable boring stories: the rise and fall of empires, sagas of heroism, ballads of tragic love. Let us hurry forward to the only tale of any real importance.” His smile broadened. “Mine.”
The way Kvothe shames the name like fabric makes me think of the waves of power from the Wheel of Time book series by Robert Jordan. the way a name is torn and then let go makes me think of how the weaves would dissipate. but you could tie or knot off a weave. I mention this because I've brought up the dream Kvothe had while in the snow of Abenthy teaching him story knots though he had no real such memory. this was before he looked into Dena's story knots. if he did see one of Tehlu's angels after being beaten. and he dreamed of story knots. could it have been the same as a divine message?
I think of the implication of that towards The Yillish story knots. and how the university has spools and spools of story knots in an old room.

Which is no small feat in way of effort. given all the aimless little short stories, and full-on pages of longer stories that I've squirreled away. I'll save my Puppet in the archives trying to take on the name of the archives. theory for another time.
That’s really interesting. Especially the part with Felurian. Those two passages having almost the same words with the white star can’t be by chance. It just can’t. That’s really quite a thing to think about.
The Lady Leshwi
In preparation for more RoW Art I am continuing my character design portraits with a series of queens, scientists and soldiers. (I guess Maya was probably the actual start of that…). So here we have the indomitable Leshwi.
Questioner: My question is not really a question, it’s more like a theory. How Odium keeps the Fused around is more if he has them tied to his essence, so it’s essentially fishing them out of the Spiritual Realm and since their minds are *inaudible* the cognitive realm and their minds are *inaudible* damaged, because their spirits are separated and it just pulls them back.
I’m *inaudible* convinced that Nightblood did kill the thunderclast, because Nightblood consumes all investiture, that’s something I asked you back at Barnes and Noble a couple years ago, during Christmas and you said your soul is investiture. So my thought is, that thunderclast isn’t coming back any time soon.

Questioner: When I saw that, my thought was, “Yep, It’s dead.” Other people were like, “I don’t know, will it come back?” Nope.
Brandon Sanderson: So, I’ll tell you this. They have not run into something like this before, and there will be ramifications of what happened there.

it's easy to like stormlight characters like adolin or lift or kal himself cause they're iconic characters who do iconic things but there is NO reason i should be this obsessed with szeth. the man is milk toast (at best) with an extra spicy dollop of nightblood and yet i would legitimately read 1000 pages of szeth...idk getting groceries? doing literally anything? go white boy go
it’s because he is theoretically friend shaped but has also killed more people than almost any other character in the series (dalinar beats him only because he oven baked a whole city)
he calls his nightmare sword a cute nickname, but has a passionate desire to commit genocide against his own people.
he holds possibly the most powerful weapon in the universe, and has basically no comprehension of that fact
he acts the same age as kaladin but is less than 10 years younger than Dalinar
He is also (imho) one of the FUNNIEST characters, COMPLETELY UNINTENTIONALLY.
He’s BALD. He’s SHORT. Hes almost FORTY. He’s the ONLY WHITE DUDE. He decides he can’t trust his own judgement and thus immediately relegates all judgement to someone else with a magical oath. Look at any interaction with Lift and guess at how his sense of humor looks (deadpan at best, nonexistent at worst). Nale FORGOT HIM in a random city after an Everstorm and he just, stayed there??? He does what people tell him like a docile little thing even though he could probably kill everyone around him. He’s unhinged in the most fascinating polite cat meme way. He’s very “I can fix him” bait. He’s incredibly intelligent, competent, terrifying, honestly some of the most BAMF moments in the series have been all him, he has TRAINED WITH EACH HONORBLADE??? And yet instead of being great or proud or dramatic, he’s.

When Renarin is involved, it doesn’t take much to shatter me, but even small passages like this one will break my heart.
It’s easy to miss just how much Renarin is constantly giving. He doesn’t show how much it costs him.
This is only a few innocuous words. But they’re the words of a boy who hides all his struggles, who carries more than he should, without a single complaint, and my heart aches for him.
