at some point you have to realize that you actually have to read to understand the nuance of anything. we as a society are obsessed with summarization, likely as a result of the speed demanded by capital. from headlines to social media (twitter being especially egregious with the character limit), people take in fragments of knowledge and run with them, twisting their meaning into a kaleidoscope that dilutes the message into nothing. yes, brevity is good, but sometimes the message, even when communicated with utmost brevity, requires a 300 page book. sorry.

How to write a thesis and defend it like a pro
A guide from a girl who didn’t believe she could do it.
happy to have you here my beloved study community and thank you for all your thoughtful wishes on my thesis defence 🤎today I’ll try to share with you all my tips & tricks on how I got there.
productivity tips:
1. start early ✍🏻
as soon as your professor announces your topic or you choose it, it is time to start before there is still not so much resistance. trust me, you’ll feel on top knowing that it’s you who did it first.
2. don’t be afraid to ask for help 🎓
do you think you’re stupid for asking? if I thought so I’d be getting my answers from tarot cards. but seriously, your mentor is the one who is supposed to be doing their job. of course try to do it in moderation, but ask questions because it is your success.
3. consistency ≠ quality 📄
you know how they talk about this annoying one all the time but really this is so important. you have to establish a clear goal, for me it was writing 3 pages per day. sometimes I didn’t feel like doing it so I wrote 2 or even one, but I showed up and tried my best with what I could write. you might write one page one day and the next one you’ll get the spark and finish the chapter.
4. set clear goals. 🙇🏻♀️
this one is fully connected with previous because this is 50% of your success. not having a routine with this task won’t lead you anywhere. let’s say you’re morning person so you wake up and do your best at 7 am consistently until 10 and you’re done for the day (or opposite if you’re a night owl). as James Clear says, it’s tiny changes but remarkable results.
5. make it enjoyable 🍫
you know this feeling when you finish something hard and you feel so much better. this is what they call hard work dopamine release, because you’ve worked for it.
but there’s a way how you can actually enjoy your thesis writing:
1. buy scented aesthetic seasoned candles 🕯️
2. always keep your study area clean 🫧
3. be a coffee or a tea queen/king ☕️ & 🍵
4. study beats / dark academia music (but keep it undistracting)
5. watch study tik-toks or study motivation movies like Gilmore Girls.
6. reward yourself but in moderation 💐

💞 Merve (long study session videos with breaks + livestreams without music)
💞 ASMR Weekly (study in a Hogwarts ambience with a different time options, truly magical space)
a personal tip: watch study vlogs from people getting their ish together, it will keep you going when you will start to slack off (Yoora Jung, Phedra Dee, daiz and others)
writing tips ✍🏻
1. please cite your resources straightaway.
don’t repeat my mistakes and don’t spend time searching for what you didn’t save.
2. create a separate folder for your bachelor’s thesis resources.
this is a smart move so your documents aren’t over the place.
3. deep rewriting.
after you’ve done some reading you can come up with your own thoughts on topic that your previous paragraph is built on, that’s what they call your original work.
4. check for plagiarism and correct it.
there are many available resources on the Internet. many universities use Turnitin from UniCheck. some universities give access for personal student use, some check the work when it’s done.
before submitting it, which was really stressful for me, I used my.plag.com.ua for checking my work and I’ve got small percentage still didn’t change it up, but I do recommend it to you if you have more than 20 percent to have a positive feedback.
thesis defence day 📄
1. make a visually appealing presentation.
it is supposed to help you, not stress you out. of course you shouldn’t add all the text that you have, but simply add the most important information.
2. write your speech text in advance.
3. rehearse your performance (at least twice but don’t overdo it)
4. ask yourself questions (simply send your topic to ChatGPT and ask to write questions for your thesis). It helped me gradually because some questions were asked at the real defence.
5. when answering questions, be confident.
this is where you will prove your subject mastery but even if you don’t know the answer - don’t show it, start from afar. some people on interviews use the same technique, but they never tell the truth while their opponent is still satisfied with answer. I actually believe it works like that.
☕️🫧 remember: you’re more capable than you think. your worth isn’t based on your achievements. it is simply about trying your best with what you have. make the journey enjoyable!

currently working on learning Norwegian every day this summer. it’s hard to be consistent when I have bad days, but I’m trying my best. still waiting for my application results.
Studying is so therapeutic. It makes me escape from the real world. It makes me feel validated. And there's always a result. Even if it's a bad result, you would know exactly why it is a bad result. That acknowledgement is a great thing. Studying sort of saved me from depression. It brought my life a meaning. I now have an ambition. I have the will to live. I know why I am here and where I should be. Thank you for making knowledge accessible. Thank you, internet. I also want to thank my grandpa (physics PhD), my dad (orthopedist), my dad's siblings (engineers), and my mom (managemet expert). I love you all. Thank you for guiding me and for making studying accessible for me. Thank you for giving me opportunities. I could have died without you.
Life is worth it. I'm glad my suicide attempts didn't work out.

Rare testimonies from inside Gaza that reached the Daily Mail reveal how Hamas members are blackmailing and exploiting women, especially wid
Hamas gunmen stand guard on the day that hostages held in Gaza since the deadly Oct. 7, 2023, attack, are …
Accounts describe widows and displaced women being sexually exploited and blackmailed by the terrorists.
Gazan women living under Hamas rule are describing sexual abuse by men in senior positions, sexual extortion in exchange for aid or money, and exploitation by those in positions of power, according to testimonies obtained by Britain’s Daily Mail.
The accounts are emerging amid growing concern that the terrorist organization has reasserted control in much of the Gaza Strip, while global attention is fixed on Iran.
A Gazan man, who identified himself as a member of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the “military” wing of Hamas, confirmed to the Mail the dire situation facing widows. He said he had reported to the leadership that some Al-Qassam members were exploiting martyrs’ widows” in a tent in the Gharabli area of Deir al-Balah.
He said he was ordered to remain silent. “We told them this was an insult to our honor and pride,” he said, adding that he destroyed the tent in anger.
Another Gazan man confirmed that a similar thing happened to his neighbor, who was blackmailed by “one of the Hamas charity organizations. They wanted her to prostitute herself in exchange for a food parcel, an aid voucher, or 100 shekels [about $33].”
These testimonies come against the backdrop of broader allegations of sexual violence during the conflict, including testimony from several former hostages such as Romi Gonen and Arbel Yehoud, who told the Mail that she was sexually abused every day in captivity after being abducted from her kibbutz on Oct. 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, Hamas, which has refused to disarm as part of a ceasefire agreement, continues to rule almost half of the Gaza Strip with an iron fist. According to sources on the ground who spoke to the Mail, the exploitation of vulnerable women and girls is routine.
Abdullah, a pseudonym, a journalist with Jusoor News, spoke to the Mail from his hiding place out of fear that Hamas would find him. “Unfortunately, there are many such cases. It is a very widespread phenomenon. In every area, many women are exploited, especially widows and divorceés, because they have no support or income. Their vulnerability is being exploited, and the situation is getting worse by the day.”
‘You cannot expose me. I am the government here.’
Noor, also a pseudonym, a divorced mother of four who was displaced from her home during the war, spoke to the Mail from Gaza in a whisper over the phone, for fear of being caught. She described sexual coercion in exchange for aid, which began when a religious figure started harassing her at the lowest point of her life.
“I wasn’t getting any aid, so I went to a charity. I am a mother of four, displaced by the war and not part of a recognized displacement camp, so I got no assistance. I went to an Islamic charity that distributes aid to the displaced and needy in Gaza. I was received by a man who looked religious, like a sheikh. He said he would stand by me and help me. I told him I was separated from my husband. He said, ‘Oh, separated? A beautiful woman like you?’”
He took Noor’s phone number, which she said she believed would lead to fatherly support, but instead, he suggested a late-night video call.
“From the beginning, the way he spoke to me felt like harassment. I’m much younger than him. I trusted him because he was an older man. I saw him as a father figure. He’s my father’s age, but he harassed me directly. I was afraid, of course. He chased after me. I asked him how he could speak to me like that, and I told him he should be ashamed. I said I would expose him. He said, ‘You cannot expose me. I am the government here.’”
Noor said this reflects a broader pattern in which vulnerable women become targets because they have no breadwinner and depend on aid. “They exploit women’s distress, but the women are too afraid to speak.”
He would not let her leave
Another woman reported: “One charity in Gaza is unfortunately the biggest perpetrator of these acts. From its chairman to its doorman, it is done by all the employees and members there, as if the organization was set up for the purpose of sexual harassment, psychological abuse and the harassment of young women.”
During the war in the Gaza Strip, the AP news agency documented several incidents in 2025, including the case of a 38-year-old woman who believed she would finally receive the help she needed for her six children. After weeks of struggle, she was told that a certain man could help her with food, aid and work.
She turned to him after being separated from her husband and forced to close her business, but then he took her to an empty apartment, complimented her and ordered her to remove her head covering. She said he told her he loved her and would not force her, but at the same time would not let her leave. Eventually, she said, sexual contact took place. She declined to provide further details, saying she felt fear and shame.
“I had to cooperate because I was afraid. I wanted to get out of that place,” she told AP. Before she left, she was given 100 shekels. Two weeks later, she received a box of medicine and a food parcel. “The job she had been promised never materialized,” the report said.
Abdullah, the journalist, added: “Hamas exploited media channels and spread exaggerated or false numbers. Hamas lied about everything. They stole the aid, created the hunger narrative, and the naive West believes it. They have no respect for anyone.”
He described threats to his life, including armed men arriving at the place where he was staying. “If I had been there, they would have shot me.”

are you guys hearing about this dude working to developing a vaccine for cats that he's hoping would like. theoretically double their lifespans?
turns out i wasn't making that up, his name is Dr. Toru Miyazaki! he also wrote a book called "The Day Cats Live To Be Thirty", so cats are kind of his thing.
apparently, cats' kidneys tend to be the thing that takes them down, something about their bodies being unable to self-clean their kidneys, and the vaccine is supposed revitalize the body's ability to do just that. It would be very VERY fucking cool to have cats suddenly reaching 30 years of age be the normal thing.
As they age, almost all cats develop kidney disease, from which they eventually die. Just as in humans, kidney disease i
Dr. Toru Miyazaki’s AIM injection for cat kidney disease enters trials in 2025, aiming for a 2027 release. Greycoat Research supports the sc
whoa wait i actually read the articles and it's so much cooler than just that!!
dude cracked the case about WHY kidneys fail, across the board as far as i can tell. turns out there's a specific molecule whose job it is to attach to waste and signal macrophages to come eat it. it remains inactive in cats for some reason, but the molecule is still there. basically what he's done is found the switch to activate them. this will be profound not only for our domestic babies, but for big cats too - especially cheetahs!
although his research was focused on cats, it's already being used to develop drugs for humans too!
on top of that, since these molecules are tags for waste, this could also dramatically lower the rate of fatty liver disease, liver cancer, urinary crystals, rheumatoid arthritis, and even some neurological cases! like, they're hoping it may have an impact on parkinson's and alzheimers, but it DOES have an impact on stroke recovery. like. holy shit.
furthermore, he's insisting that the feline drug be affordable if and when it rolls out onto the market. he wants this to be something anyone can get for their cat!! idk how much sway he'll have over the human drug, but hopefully enough that it, too, won't be that expensive.
annnnnd in his research that he's still doing for the human side of things, he's found a potential link between this molecule and estrogen. in the 20,000 samples he's tested, women between ages 10 and 29 had the highest amount of this molecule present in their blood (a higher amount means Something Fucky is going on, essentially. There's a higher amount of waste the body is trying to clean out) but it drops down to be almost equal amongst men and women after menopause. it hasn't been looked into yet, but fuck, just the fact it's noted and known and probably WILL be looked into soon??? imagine if this is what leads to figuring out all the various ways the ovaries and uterus fucks with people and how to fix it. or even like, maybe there's something about estrogen that makes it work better. who knows! but it's rad the link is there to be researched :D
man just think, not only could our kitties start living longer, healthier lives, but just maybe dialysis will become as rare and obsolete as the iron lung is for people. what a badass Dr. Toru is!
"But I don't want to turn people into dinosaurs. I wanna cure kittie kidneys!"
Update: So they have done clinical trials and have submitted it for approval as of april 2026. They are expecting it to be available late 2026/early 2027

“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.
