A Response to @gunlovingpacifist
I usually read all the notes on memes that cross my dash that are of interest to me. In particular I try to respond to falsehoods, misconceptions and things that do not make logical sense.
No matter what your opinion on Student Debt Forgiveness is, I am responding to @gunlovingpacifist notes here. His contention is that Biden is a Fascist and his reasons why written in his notes here.
My response is thatβ No he is Not.
[And, since you chose to do it by discussing student debt forgiveness as an example.]
The Biden Administration continued to find ways to cancel student loan debt despite the Supreme Court Ruling on Cancellations on EXISTING federal student loan forgiveness Programs limited to specific categories:
1) public sector workersβgovβt & nonprofit workers; teachers, social workers, some nurses, doctors, some govβt attorneys
2)People defrauded by For-Profit colleges. (You know the ones that mislead by over inflating what the degrees or education does in respect to job prospects)
3)Borrowers who have paid at least 20 (twenty) years of debt.
So they have been enabling these borrowers forgiveness through EXISTING programs on a rolling basis.
They are correcting past administrative errors made to accounts.
In contrast, Trump tried to limit these and slowed applications to these programs. (Sound familiar? Throwing sand in the gears)
The U.S. Government Accountability Office is now doing more to ensure borrowers receive forgiveness they are entitled to through this.

Just so you know Betsy DeVos, Ed Secretary under Trump made efforts to limit 200,000 borrower claims, but was unsuccessful.
Also done by the Biden Administration was to make it easier for Disabled borrowers to receive debt relief they were entitled to. Since 2021, nearly 513,000 with Total Disability received forgiveness. They have also streamlined the process of application by connecting administrative data with Social Security.
Well HE DID IT with the help of the administration and government. Thereβs no reason why he canβt take a Victory lap on that. He should.
You know how Trump rode the coattails of the Obama-Biden economy for the first year of his administration. They βrightedβ the sinking ship, the Financial Crisis, under the tenure of G. Bush. A lot of homes went into foreclosure, too. Trump took credit for the improved economy he didnβt make better. No real legislation was passed that year.
He took credit every time the market was up, too.
On Student Loan Forgiveness, Biden would have done more, but the Supreme Court ruled. Theyβve only worked around it in ways that they can.
Same as Roe v Wade. He says if given a majority in the House and Senate, he will make Roe law. If he was a Fascist, he would do it without Congress. (Itβs why voting Biden is Important).
Democrats abide by the law. They believe in the Rule of Law. Fascism is not in the DNA.
The Biden Administration does a lot quietly behind the scenes to make government work for people. It is part of the Democratic DNA and has been for decades, just looking at various programs from social security, Medicare, Medicaid, workers rights, public safety, public projects, public education.
Biden is Not a Fascist. Far from it. He didnβt have dinner with a Nazi. He didnβt think tiki torch carrying demonstrators spewing hate were βgood peopleβ. Thereβs no both sides on that. It is not in his DNA. It is why he chose to run and serve, even if he is old. Old is not bad, if he can do the job.
Trump wants to be a Dictator. You donβt need to read his lips, he said it. And who made references to Reich? Trump did.
