Intro?

I’m not sure how to do this, so bear with me. Technology is way different than what I’m used to.

I’m James Buchanan Barnes, but I go by Bucky.

I made this internet account because a few friends told me to. (Looking at you Peter Stark) Apparently it’s good to interact with people. Even if that’s only through words on these little screens.

Ex-Hydra assassin and Winter Soldier. Now I’m trying to learn to be human again. I live alone in a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. No, I’m not giving my address, because that’s classified.

Peter's been jumpy since the Green Goblin came back. Winter had dosed him with the serum, and the goblin had tried to kill him, and Tony and Steve and so many others had been affected, too. He's barely slept, busy with distributing the cure, and all he's eaten is a couple pre-sealed snacks Pepper's been able to coax him into taking. He sleeps and eats in a little nest he built in his closet, constantly vigilant when he leaves his room.

His body's practically forcing him to take a break now, so he's curled up with his back against the wall. His head snaps up, though, when he hears someone open his door, his eyes wide and his breathing automatically picking up.

Peter crawls through the living room window in his suit, tossing off his mask before dropping onto the floor like a dead bug. There's a bump on his forehead that's tender and warm to the touch. He covers it with his hand when he notices that someone else is in the room, trying to pretend he's fine even though he's laying on the floor and clearly not fine.

“Ah, shit,” Tony swore when he saw him. He swept over and knelt down. “What’d you do? Did you stub your toe? Are we amputating?”

"Nope," Peter groans a little, settling his head against the floor. "I'm fine. Perfectly healthy. No toes in need of amputation at all." He slurs his words a tiny bit.

“Oooh,” Tony clicks his tongue, shaking his head. “Alright, easy. Look at me, lemme see those blinkers. Yeah. Yep. Hi there, what lovely, unfocused eyes you have. Okay, that’s what I thought.”

He sighs heavily, and very slowly lifts Peter up off the floor. “Don’t puke on me, these are new shoes. How’d it happen? You take a hit? Did you fall?”

Peter groans softly, head slowly tilting forward until his forehead is against Tony's shoulder. "Ran into a billboard," he says with slight shame in his tone. "But I'm fine."

“Hm,” Tony hummed simply, supporting the kid’s weight. “You will be. It’s fine. Mistakes happen, don’t beat yourself up about it.”

“What was it, were you not looking where you were going?” Tony pressed lightly, leading them into the elevator. He pressed the button for the floor of medical wing and tucked Peter under his arm, rubbing his back absently. “Did you not get enough sleep? Kinda tired, distracted?”

"Uh, pretty much," Peter says, referring to the first one. "A pigeon flew in my way and I didn't want to hit it so I changed which way I was going last second and bam. Billboard. Those things come outta nowhere." The elevator opens to the medical wing, and he just stares at it for a second.

“They sure do.” Tony patted his arm gently, stepping them out into the medbay. He shielded Peter’s eyes with his hand, and muttered to FRIDAY to dim the lights. “Alright, kiddie,” he murmured. “Let’s get you set up. You know the drill. Do you feel pukey? I can get you some jello.”

Peter shakes his head, shutting his eyes at sudden nausea. "Uh... A little bit, but it's fine. I really don't need to get checked out." He sits down on a cot, though, and waves at Dr. Cho when she looks in their direction.

“Yeah, sure, yeah,” Tony said flatly. He carded his hands through the kid’s hair, sweeping it out of his face, behind his ears. He’s assessing him with no lack of displeasure. “You look clammy,” he surmised. “Hnnmm. I’m thinking some anti-nausea meds, a dark room, and some rest. What do we think?”

Peter huffs a little, but relents and nods. "You worry too much." Dr. Cho brings the meds over with some water and he takes them.

“I worry just the right amount. Honestly, might be tipping into the low range right now, you should be proud of me,” Tony said, distracted. He patted Peter on the back lightly, studying him to make sure he didn’t spew. When he was satisfied, he got them moving again. He brought Peter into a secluded, darker room. “Alright, kiddie, tuck in. I’ll call your school, let ‘em know you won’t be in this week.”

Peter furrows his eyebrows and looks at Tony incredulously. "A week? I'll be fine tomorrow," he slurs, moving to sit down.

The translation of Aurora is "fresh start", and that's exactly what Rory's looking for as she steps off the train with a ratty backpack slung over one shoulder and an overconfident smile curling her lips. She's going to kick New York's ass.

Well, that is, after she figures out what she's going to do to get to an ass-kicking position. She's got about a hundred bucks and some dreams to her name, and that doesn't get her all that far here. Plus, she's got no clue where she's going. She picks a stranger to stop and approaches them with a friendly smile. "Hey, do you know how to get to... Uh... Anywhere, really?"

Bucky looked up at her from his book and gave a faint smile, “depends on where you want to go. Looking for something specific?”

He slipped a piece of paper into the pages and set it aside on the park bench. A hat sat low over his face, and his jacket was carefully pulled close. If she didn’t look closely, she never would’ve noticed who he was.

Rory shrugs. She doesn't recognize Bucky, and doesn't really think to care who he is. She's just looking for directions, after all. "Cheap food?"

He lifted a shoulder in a half shrug, “There’s a good sandwich place a few blocks over.” He glanced at his watch and seemed surprised at the time. “I’m about to head down there since I seem to have missed lunch, if you want to come.”

Everything is a blur. Katie isn't sure what is happening or what had already happened. There's bits and pieces that she can remember, but mostly all she knows is pain. Everything hurts, every breath, every movement. The pain consumes her entire being, it feels like nothing had ever existed before it and nothing will ever exist after it.

Here, lying on the floor, she can finally breathe as she tries to take reprise from the constant pain, from the dreaded chair when every cell in her body screams at her. She tries to forget about each time they inject her with whatever bullshit they can come up with and all she can do is scream.

She can barely imagine the party she was at before the hydra agents ripped her away from everything, even herself. She can barley even imagine her family and even their blurry figures seem to be slipping away from every time the door to her tiny cell opens. She isn't even sure if they are real anymore or just a figment of her imagination she made to comfort herself, but she clings onto whatever comfort they can provide her.

The door opened, and very quiet footsteps entered. A large form knelt next to her, and then a cold metal hand touched her shoulder.

“Hey, Katie. Thank god I’ve found you. Can you hear me?”

Katie flinched at the touch. She wasn't sure who was in front of her but she knew that nothing good ever came out of someone visiting her.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me."

”hey, hey, I’m not gonna hurt you. We’re gonna get out of here and I’m going to get you home, okay? Can you walk?”

Bucky gently touched her shoulder again.

"Home? Who are you? I don't...I'm not allowed to leave. I can't."

Peter really shouldn't have come to school today. Why? Well, for one, he woke up with a headache that spikes every time he walks under a light or uses his phone. For two, there was a pep assembly, which took place in a loud gym filled with teenagers who wear way too much perfume and cologne. For three, an end of the day bell has just gone off right by his ear and sent him straight into flight or fight mode.

The logical thinking part of his brain has taken a backseat to his more spidery instinct as he stumbles through a crowd of people, flinching every time he bumps into someone or even gets too close to a person. His watch is beeping to signal an unusually high heart rate, which means that someone's definitely been alerted and they probably think he's hurt or something. Neither that notion nor the sound are exactly helping here.

He finally makes it out to the yard, but beelines for a row of bushes instead of the far more crowded car line where he should be going. He sits down against one, squeezing his eyes shut and forcefully clasping his hands over his ears. He flinches when he hears someone approaching, the sound of their heartbeat hammering into his headache.

The heartbeat slowed, almost until Peter didn’t hear it at all, and Bucky sat down next to him. Not close enough to touch, but close enough to be there.

He gently tapped Peter’s hand and then held up a small clean pair of noise canceling earbuds.

Peter opens his eyes, wincing slightly at the harsh light, but slowly pulls a hand away from his ear to quickly take the noise cancelling earbuds. He fumbles slightly before managing to get them on, then just stares at Bucky for a moment, processing slow.

Bucky then pulled out a pair of sunglasses and mimed putting them over Peter's eyes. Then he slowly moved toward doing that, giving Peter every opportunity to stop him.

Peter keeps staring at Bucky, letting him put the sunglasses on him without resistance. His breathing slows a little bit, and he blinks a few times, one hand coming to his opposite arm to press his nails into it.

Bucky slowly reached out and took Peter’s hand in his metal one, trying to keep him from hurting himself and giving him something that won’t break under his grip.

”hey, bud. Just breathe. It’s gonna be okay.” His voice was barely audible.

Peter tightly grips Bucky's hand, not quite holding his super strength back like he usually does. He slowly leans his forehead toward Bucky, dropping it against his shoulder as his breath slows a little bit.

Bucky slowly brought his other arm up and wrapped Peter in a side hug. He didn’t mind how hard Peter was holding his hand. There was no way he could damage it, and even if he did it could be fixed.

He was relaxing a bit too, and the schoolyard was quieting. The last of the kids were getting into cars and leaving.

Peter's grip tightened and loosened with every sudden noise, but he slowly grew more relaxed. He leaned further into Bucky's side, slumping a little with exhaustion.

Peter's been... hiding something, about his powers. It's been a somewhat recent development of just a few months, compared to the two years since he got everything else, but in those few months he's developed a... situation. He can't eat proper food anymore. He accidentally found out what he can eat when he stopped a mugging and sunk fangs (yes, fangs) into a mugger's arm. Ever since, he's been creating synthetic blood to consume, all the while keeping each and every bit a secret from everybody.

His plan to hide all of this from everyone fails one night, when he realizes he's all out of synthetic blood. It takes several hours to form and in the meantime he's stuck sitting in the lab, unable to retract his fangs because of his sheer hunger. He flinches when he hears footsteps behind him, immediately snapping his mouth shut and turning to face them with a startled look.

Peter nods stiffly, mouth still shut as he pushes down the instinct to bite him. He walks over to a drawer and takes out a small toolkit, turned away as he says, "what do you need it all for?" He walks over to the soldering iron.

Bucky shook out his metal arm and then flexed the fingers. “Some pieces have been loose lately, and I think some wiring fried itself.”

He looked over at Peter, noting his stiff movements. “You want to help? I think my big fingers might mess things up.”

Mod: okay so this is really messed up within canon because 1. He drove Harley to the tower in their first real rp together and 2. That audi commercial with Spider-Man: Homecoming. Because of that I guess we're just going to say he's 15 and this is a prequel or something. If the characters didn't know each other then, he can be his usual 16!

Peter stands in the tower's garage next to one of Tony's more sensible cars. He's been procrastinating learning to drive for a while and by now, he definitely needs to. Technically, he does have a permit, but that's mostly been the result of pure luck and reflexes that've translated to driving a car decently, rather than actually understanding driving and road laws, because his driving instructor was surprisingly bad at instructing driving.

He turns his head to the elevator when he hears it open and smiles at the person who's taking him today. "Are we good to go?"

Bucky looked up at her from his book and gave a faint smile, “depends on where you want to go. Looking for something specific?”

He slipped a piece of paper into the pages and set it aside on the park bench. A hat sat low over his face, and his jacket was carefully pulled close. If she didn’t look closely, she never would’ve noticed who he was.

Ooc: takes place before Collie was at the Mansion :)

A 13-year-old Collie roams the streets. He had run away again. Turned invisible and walked straight out the front door of his foster parents' place. He had hoped he was far enough out to where they wouldn't find him this time. That was always a concern, but now he was more concerned about food. He was using cash to buy most of his needs to help avoid tracking, but he had run out. He hated stealing. He really did. He always felt bad later. But he was desperate and hungry. He turned the corner of the street and landed eyes on a random stranger who was putting their wallet away. He quickly turned invisible, brushing past the person and slipping their wallet out. It wasn't till he was at the end of the street did he turn visible again.

A voice came from behind him, quiet and firm. “Can I have that back, kid?”

"....have what back?"

He asked, shoving the wallet in his hoodie pocket.

Bucky looked down at him, metal hand resting on his shoulder. The hand felt cold even through the hoodie fabric. “My wallet that you so smoothly took from my pocket.”

The hand on his shoulder sent a shiver down his spine. Collie just glared at the man as he shifted the cash-out into his pocket before pulling the wallet back and handing it to the man.

Bucky took the wallet and slipped it into his pocket. “You hungry, kid, or just stealing because you can?”

"....hungry," he mumbled, eyeing the wallet as he put it back in his pocket.

“Why don’t we go get some food. There’s a good sandwich place around the corner.” He looked the kid over, “And you can keep the cash you slipped into your pocket.”

“I’m Bucky by the way.”

Collie raised an eyebrow.

"...how did you know I took the money out?...you never looked into your wallet?"

Bucky chuckled softly, “not my first time around the block, kid. I’ve had my share of pickpockets and of pickpocketing.” He grinned at him, “Annnnd you weren’t very subtle.”

He rolled his eyes mockingly mumbled at the man under his breath. Before looking back up at him.

"....what kind of sandwiches...?"

Unfortunately, he didn't have time to be snarky. Unfortunately, he was hungry.

”Those big long ones that you can put almost anything on,” Bucky gestured slightly to signify a big sandwich.

He looked at the kid, “But before we do that, what’s your name, kid?”

".....why do you wanna know?"

Bucky shrugged, “So I can stop calling you kid, little guy, and buddy in my head.”

"...I'm Collie"

He finally answered.

"....can we go eat now?"

He didn't mean to sound impatient, he was just hungry.

He laughed, “yeah, we can go eat now. Nice to meet you, Collie.”

The walk to the sandwich place didn’t take long, and soon they were both seated at a table with huge sandwiches in front of them.
