Open RP - Post Arrest
//Based on this. This takes place Pre-the entire goblin situation just for timelines sake.
Katie was on the living room couch wrapped in a blanket as she scrolled through her phone. Every single headline, every single post she came across was talking about the same thing: Tony Stark's daughter got arrested last night. It still felt surreal that it had actually happened and yet it was all over the news.
Apparently someone had filmed Katie's late night encounter with the police and now it was all anyone could talk about. There were ridiculous speculations about what caused the arrest. Everyone had their own ideas and some of them weren't that far off from the truth. Katie had gone out last night and gotten drunk. Someone, she wasn't even sure who, had the bright idea to go somewhere else so they stuffed into a car when they got pulled over and promptly arrested for underage drinking. Tony had bailed her out and they had talked about things but she still felt awful about what happened.
It was obvious from the video that Katie was drunk and everyone had raced to compare her to her dad. Some even went as far as saying that it was Tony's fault that Katie 'turned out' like this and Katie hated every cell in her body because all of this was her fault. She finally looked away from her phone when someone called out her name.
Tony lingered in the doorway, keeping a respectful distance. He held up a plate with some dubious-looking grilled cheese on it. “Hey, kid. You hungry?”
"No thank you, I'm good." Katie mutters glancing up at him before turning back to her phone.
“You shouldn’t read that crap,” Tony said, stepping in. He put the plate down on her desk and commandeered the chair. “It’s all tabloids. Gossip. It’ll go away in a week and everyone will find some other deer to kill.”
"It's not crap when most of it is true. This is all my fault, I fucked everything up." Katie mutters finally looking up at Tony.
“Oh, whatever,” Tony scoffed, waving this idea off. “You were drunk. You got arrested. So what? People do a lot worse on a daily basis, you don’t see that splashed over the news. Even my past. Public only knew about half of it. It got bad.”
He leaned forward, hunched over in the chair. “And I know you’re a smart kid. This doesn’t mean the end of the world, logically. Which begs the question, why does this matter to you? What’s going on in that head?”
"That doesn't change the fact that it was my fault! I gave everyone the chance to talk badly about me and you!" Katie exclaims before deflating again.
"Nothing's going on in my head. I was being stupid, I was drinking when I shouldn't have and now the entire world knows just how much of a dumbass I am to let this happen."
“Hey.” Tony snapped his fingers. “Listen. Listen up. You made a mistake. It happens. Especially if you’re related to me. You’ll make better ones. It’s okay. But I never want to hear you say that you’re anything less than a very smart, competent, kind human being.”
Tony looked at her seriously, meaning every word that he said. “You’ll figure this out, and you’ll come out stronger ‘cuz of it. You’re a Stark. We fix things. Right?”
