Literally always take headphones with you. If you decide that you probably won't need them today, that's the devil talking. You will. You will
Babe, you okay? you reblogged “and we were nice to each other” like 12 times again
you may think misogyny is good because it is made up of miso, which is delicious, and gyny, which is woman. and girl miso sounds great. but 👆 it is not girl miso
"Miso" is Greek for "hatred". "Gyny" is Greek for "woman" Misogyny literally means "hatred of women".
The word "misogyny" is always associated with the unnecessary hatred and abuse of women. No one ever thinks about this word in a positive light.
will you ever forgive me
jesus christ did i fucking kill them im sorry
you may think homicide is good because it is made up of homo, which is gay, and cider, which is delicious. And gay cider sounds great. but 👆 it is not gay cider
I was looking for photos of one physical condition that happens to penises and came across this photoset.
my favorite genre of star trek photo: character(s) on an accidental pride flag background that really resonates with them

Some of the ones I've accumulated
like many people have said this better than me but no it IS odd that we've come to think of potatoes as so quintessentially european that their presence in historical fantasy where they're anachronistic doesn't jar. and yes people are trying to have the trappings of post-colonial europe without engaging w the icky colonialism part and yes people are neglecting to imagine what a european cuisine without potatoes would be like.
im fully in favour of 'let people have fun w their fantasy world' but is considering how the potatoes got there in the absence of colonialism not a fun exercise? maybe every year the dragon riders go on a great transatlantic potato pilgrimage
perhaps a good way to sum up the issue here is:
if you put potatoes in your medieval european style fantasy world people will by and large not find it jarring and accept it as a normal fantasy trope
if you put, say, black people in your medieval european style fantasy world a whole demographic of people will get very angry and accuse you of breaking their immersion
this is in spite of the fact that black people were a lot more common in medieval europe than potatoes.

Okay so I got a little carried away
Everyone envies me for my shrimp lighter
really into block printing lately.
i have a couple available in my store right now, you can find them as patches and prints here:
I've opened a shop. Come take a look!
you're really so kind, haha. i consider myself a novice at this medium and still learning myself, so i'm not sure what tips i can give other than don't start with something too detailed and maintain patience when carving (actually, lean in to how meditative the process is.)
youtube has a great collection of tutorials. i learn by observing and not by direction, so i watch emil salmins at work and some others that pop on my feed.
my current tools are all speedball brand, just cuz i have easy access to them and it's easier on my wallet (which hey hi please consider getting something from my ko-fi or sending a tip, it goes back to things like art supplies and uh...rent. lol.) i think you can get a starter set for $25? the mounted wood blocks are like $2.50 for a 3"x4" and $5 for 5"x7" where i get them. when i feel more confident i want to get better tools, especially for fine line work.
maybe when i feel more confident i will record my process.
they were lowkey just drawing anything back then
Have you guys seen that clip

The most basic, intractable fact about mental illnesses is that you simply cannot willpower your way out of them. The only exceptions to this rule are the ones I have, which continue to disable me due to lack of determination and other grave personal flaws
bell hooks mentioned going through a time in her life where she was severely depressed and suicidal and how the only way she got through it was through changing her environment: She surrounded her home with buddhas of all colors, Audre Lorde’s A Litany for Survival facing her as she wakes up, and filling the space she saw everyday with reinforcing objects and meaningful books. She asks herself each day, “What are you going to do today to resist domination?” I also really liked it when she said that in order to move from pain to power, it is crucial to engage in “an active rewriting of our lives.”
I have come to think of the suicidal impulse as the brain waving a flag to say three things:
something needs to change here
this is urgent
I don’t know how to do it
death is the ultimate metaphor for drastic change. it’s a general specific. whatever your problems are, it is very likely that dead people don’t have to deal with them. a real solution to your problems may demand a very narrow range of action that’s likely to be out of reach at this moment, but death is sold on every street corner, so it feels like a more realistic fantasy than happiness.
you don’t really want to die per se but it’s also not completely random chemicals swamping your brain for no reason. you want the pain to stop, you want to be somewhere else, you want to be someone else. it’s urgent. you don’t know how to do it. the end is not the end but a means that feels within your reach right now.
this is the wisdom of bell hooks: daily rituals of meaning and resistance and solidarity are part of slowly building a future where you can make the change you really need. and only alive people can do that. every step you take towards change and power is another step away from death.
[me, fumbling a social interaction] oh lovely. another haunting addition to the collection
