❝Not exactly what I had in mind. Wait…what the shit is Elf? Is that some kinky christmas porno?❞
“Yes, that’s exactly what it is. You’re spot on.”
Just information. Like what your favorite part of LA is, and why.
“Oh, alright. Um.. probably the shops, especially in Manhattan Beach. They have some lovely vintage frocks.”
I dance Burlesque, but back in New York I had to care a lot about my appearance, so i learned way more beauty tips than anyone should ever know.
“Oh, well you’re definitely excellent at manicures, that’s for sure. How much do you want?”
No problem.
“So is this what you do as a career or just a past time?”
“Oh, I see.”
There you go, your nails now look amazing.
“They’re brilliant, thank you.”
I…I take things….apart…and put…put them…back…back together….to…to figure out how they…they work.
“Oh, that’s interesting. You must be really smart then.”
❝I was wondering if you could direct me to the entertainment spots for the evening. Your room is included.❞
“Sure, you can come to my room. Tonight we’re watching Elf.”
“Has anyone ever told you, it’s rude to come in without knocking? Did you need something?”
“I - uh, wanted to sing you a... Christmas carol. Actually, I had no idea this room was occupied, sorry.”
“I don’t know how I’ve kept myself entertained for seventy years, because right now — I feel the most bored I’ve ever felt in my entire life. And death. You know what I mean.”
“Seventy years? Oh golly, you look good for your age. Well, what do you like to do for fun?”
“So, like, is there some kind of support group for people whose loved ones died, but not really because they’re still fucking wandering around this hole? I think I need it.”
“Let me know if there is, I’d love to see if I qualify. Are you alright? Stupid question, I know.”
That’s….that’s cool.
“What else do you like to do?”
“Of course I’m perfect company, I know information on varying topics like literature and cooking and sports and the taboo subjects I’m above average at math not much of a science person but if you want to talk fiction you’ll be thoroughly entertained for hours. You practically won the lottery”
“Wow, you’re like De La Luna’s hottest bachelor right there. Hm, how about fiction? Lets talk about that.”
He could tell she was scared, and he never wanted her to be afraid again. Stroking her back ever so gently, he felt like he had his sister in his arms again. She was still here, she’d never left. He felt like they were together again—the only part of him left living. “Gwen, you don’t have to be frightened… I’m not going to hurt you.” He knew that perhaps her fear was not out of pain, but more or so the impending reality that her deceased great-uncle was in fact a ghost. But nonetheless he’d tried to comfort her in any way he could without bringing up such an issue at this point. There’d be questions later, he knew it. He had his own questions about her life, and family.
“Don’t cry, please.” He rested his head on hers, his heart breaking with the sound of her tears. “You’re okay, here. Here with me. You’ll be fine.” Sean had no idea what he was even saying. She’ll never be fine again. Not completely. At least he assumed she wouldn’t, because he never would be either. Although he knew they’d be on opposite ends of spectrum. Like the sun and the moon. “Rose would be so happy right now, I know it. We’ve found each other!” He exclaimed, unable to stop the happiness he felt from sinking through.
His request was a big one to ask, and she wasn’t sure she could stop the tears from falling. How did she know he was telling the truth? Of course she wanted to believe him, and the evidence was there in plain sight, but she couldn’t just go off words and a photograph, could she? Breaking from his gasp, she took a step back and tried to make some form of eye contact with him - which was hard when her eyes were clouded with tears. “I don’t... I still don’t know whether to believe you.” She spoke, quietly.
Gwen took another step back, unaware of how many of these she’ll be taking over the course of this encounter. “I’m sorry... I don’t..” The words weren’t there. Clearing her throat, she shakily took one more step back. “I’m just so.. confused.. I... I don’t know who you are.” She finally stuttered, knowing she’d hurt him once more. “I’m sorry, I don’t want to hurt you... I want to - I don’t know... I’m sure you’re a nice guy deep down, but I can’t believe you... I want to, I really do... but you’re dead!” She cried. “Or... Sean should be. I’m sorry... you're not him, you're not Sean Benson and you're not my family.” Even the words stung and left a sour taste on her tongue. "I need to go."
“Are you serious? Show me this mother fucker and I’ll deal with him.”
“Dark, tall, kind of good looking... sort of. You know, a part of me believes him. Or wants to.”
Theoretical thesis…..lambada calculus….um….anything….with math…..um….technical….manuals. and…..and things with….with mechanical and…and electronic…engineering.
“That sounds interesting. I study Aeronautics and Aviation technology at college, so that's mostly what I read.”
“Faked? Oh darling, I’m a ghost. A dead man with a dead heart, but a very alive imagination… and a dark one at that. Want to kill me? Go on, I dare you. I’ll pop right back up and say hello.”
“Oh, because killing someone wouldn’t look bad on mine or my father’s reputation. I’m a very important person you know, and I don’t have time to be dealing with the likes of you. You’re clearly alive.”
