2014
I can't believe it is only a few days away from 2015, this year can't possibly almost be over. Looking back, I think 2014 has been one for the books. My highest (so far) and my lowest, all in one year. Through it all, i learned two things - faithfulness and renewal.
In 2014, God showed me that there is so much more to Him that I could delight in. He helped me stand when I thought I could not. He loved me through the people He's placed in my life. I could not be more grateful for them.
In 2014, these were the big highlights -
Career. I left an amazing team to join another with a completely different set of responsibilities and a bigger learning curve. In 3 months, I've learned so much and partnered with amazing decision makers. I've never felt such support from my leadership team, whose investment in me is immensely humbling.
Running. I always saw running as physical maintenance, but then I found it was a great way to spend time alone and with others. I've gotten to know people I never thought I would. I ran a total of 11 races this year, including a half and qualifying for the 2015 NYC marathon.
Emcee. I had the privilege of emcee-ing in my friends' wedding. This made the list because this role is so outside my comfort zone. Albeit some sound issues, I am grateful to be a part of some of my closest friends' big day.
Travel. I was able to travel the most this year, with friends and family. New Orleans, HK, Japan, DC, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal (next wk)..
Church. After months of indecision, God has provided me a new family to grow with. While it is still a small church plant, this church is missional. They hope to bring renewal to Jersey City through Christ, a vision I find exciting and refreshing. However, I cannot forget to mention Vision's womens sg in the spring and TGC East Village sg in the fall. Both very different groups, but both I have learned a great deal from.
Volunteer. I am getting more involved in Reveal, an organization that seeks to restore the hope of domestic violence victims. Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities for our upcoming Feb event.
Birthday. My 25th this year was phenomenal. Spending it with the people I love and being showered with love. A weekend I cannot forget including a homemade dinner, dance choreography, pottery painting, etc.
Looking at these bullet points, I noticed there were so many "I's". In reality, these would not have happened without the strength of God. The bullets do not begin to describe the pains I've felt this year, but that's because God has redeemed them. I've met amazing people this year, I've gotten closer to more. I made mistakes and I learned.
I have no idea what tomorrow holds, but with faith, I know it will be good. Cheers 2014 and farewell!
