They were both turned into monsters against their will but Sandy stayed a hero while Sorrow embraced his darker impulses. It's so good. I could write a whole essay on this nonsense.

oh my god where do i even begin with this one. christ. okay so, this was drawn for an assignment called "do it better", where we take a cover we personally think couldve been drawn better and then well. do it better.

this is the original cover + real art in the comics. i cannot make this up.

these are the first draft thumbnails i did, trying to feel out exactly what the vibe was. going left to right, the first one was too simple and looked more like a single splash page than a cover, the second was the one i ended up going with, and the third also had the splash page issue.

im pretty happy with how this turned out! theres definitely some things i wish i did better but oh Well.

In the lead up to Superior Spider-Man I recall that there was this brief dolphin-dive into deconstruction in that the inciting incident is that Doctor Octopus is suffering terminal complications from the dozens of times he’s been punched in the face by incredibly strong men over the course of his supervillain career. And this to me runs into one of the pitfalls of trying to do deconstructive beats in a shared, ongoing setting where you don’t have total authorial fiat over how severe consequences are setting-wide. Because, you know, an enormous number of other guys in the supervillain industry have also gotten punched in the face a bunch of times by Spider-Man and company, and you know, for the most part they aren’t dying about it. Unless you’re implying that they are, and have been, retroactively implicating Spider-Man as written by everyone else this entire time as an unacknowledged mass-murderer- which obviously isn’t gonna stick. So in light of the “realistic” consequences manifesting so selectively I guess we’re forced to conclude that Otto just has a uniquely thin and pathetic skull, it’s just a him problem. Skill issue

When I first read this book I was so annoyed at this random guy just showing up and getting in the way of Mel and Abe because like where the fuck did you even come from and why do you act like you have some type of history with Melissa ?? I basically felt the same way about him Erik did and I still can’t bring myself to condemn him for killing Genis because yeah you’re NOT part of the team, why are you acting like that ? I’m glad Genis didn’t hold it against him because he really had no right to considering what he was up to like a month before he joined the T-Bolts 🤨

I still remember how irritated I was when he took Monica's code name and she DIDN'T beat the shit out of him !! I don't even know why I was so mad but I specifically remember being pissed that Monica said something along the lines of "ahh I can't stay mad at that smile" or whatever lmao

There's something about Genis that just brings out the worst in people idk you just have to get to know him and then you find out that he's even worse than you initially thought but you also kinda start feeling bad for him and that's when the endless torment kicks in
