there used to be this billboard on route to my primary school when i was like aged 6-11 and someone had wrote the words ‘gay pole’ on it, and it turned into this thing where if you went under the billboard/walked through the middle of the 2 poles, you got called gay by the other kids, so you’d have these kids grabbing and throwing each other so they don’t end up walking under the ‘gay pole’ back then i didn’t really understand what being gay meant so it was just something you’d avoid walking back home from school cause it was a daily occurrence that kids would push and force you under the gay pole, but recently i went back and checked up on it and turns out, the gay pole is still there with the original sharpy message but now it had stickers of lgbt+ and people accepting the ‘gay pole’ with messages of encouragement and support, there’s not much else to this story other than i thought it was nice that things have sorta changed from recent past and it was a nice thing to see :-)
