Thinking about it, it's been really interesting seeing peoples reaction to Shatner's acting as Kirk (calling it over done particularly) for two reasons for me.
1. While there are a lot of moments from him that don't land well, I'm under the impression that most people just don't like a theater oriented acting style on film anymore in general
and
2. I felt so comfortable with the mannerisms of the TOS crew, Kirk especially. As a kid I learned an exaggerated way of doing expressions, somewhat deliberately, probably from watching tv. I have very particular inflections and wording. He and Spock behave and speak how I do! My masking actually slipped a lot more for a period because my brain had people like myself to model after.
It's always fascinating to me when people object to those kinds of acting styles because I always both love and feel so at home in them. And Shatner in Kirk overall is phenomenal. Most of his characterization in scenes is done through body language, expression, and tone. You really need to pay attention to properly understand what's happening with him, but I don't think it's difficult he communicates everything very well.
Patriciaâs Self-Help Grimoire Has Entered the Chat
We were watching Widowâs Bay when Patriciaâs self-help book took a distinctly occult turnâand suddenly looked very familiar.
The Newberryâs âBook of magical charmsâ has entered the chat.
Coincidence? Probably. But the grimoire energy is undeniable.

well u know what they say about early birds
ship wars are dumb. Polyamory and aromanticism are easy, simple, and effective solutions
I don't see how polyamory or aromanticism could patch up the holes in my hull but if you say so
happy pride month to them
I LOVE ACCURATE CHARACTERIZATION. I LOVE READING A FANFIC AND THINKING "YEAH THEY WOULD SAY THAT". I LOVE WHEN FANFICTION INCLUDES THEIR POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE TRAITS. I GET THE WRITER CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT AND IT'S A FANTASY BUT WHY DOES EVERY CHARACTER HAVE TO SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME NOWADAYS. I COULD ERASE THE NAME FROM A LOT OF THESE THINGS I READ AND GENUINELY NOT KNOW WHO I'M READING ABOUT.

Marcia Lucas was often called the unsung hero of "Star Wars," the original film that after sequels, prequels and spinoffs has come to be known by its subtitle, "A New Hope."
She convinced husband George that he should have Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, in his light saber battle with Darth Vader and become a spirit guide to Mark Hamillâs Luke Skywalker.
And she had to make sense of the raw footage that couldâve been a mess in the wrong hands, including the climactic rebel attack on the Death Star.

"Her influence on film is indelible, but those who knew her best will remember the way she made life feel more vivid, more beautiful, more fun, and more full of love," a family statement said. "Her work was known for its emotional intelligence, rhythm, and humanity â a rare ability to find the truth of a scene and bring heart, momentum, and clarity to the screen."
